OKLAHOMA CITY (April 8, 2013) - Joel Lutz of No.6 Lubbock Christian University was named Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 1-7.
 
Lutz, a junior third baseman from Medicine Hat, Alberta, led the Chaps to a 4-1 week, batting .500 (8-16) with three doubles and four home runs for a 1.438 slugging percentage. He had a dozen RBI and six runs scored to go with two walks and a stolen base. In the second game of the Chaparrals series against No.17 Oklahoma Baptist, Lutz was 3-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBI. The Chaps have played 40 games this season and Lutz has reached base safely in all 40 games. He is hitting .368 with 10 homers and a team-leading 44 RBI this season.
 
The honor is the second this season for Lutz and it marks the fifth time a Chaps member has received the honor. Lutz last claimed the honor on Mar. 18. LCU, 31-9 on the season, heads to Oklahoma City University Friday to open a four-game Sooner Athletic Conference series.
