Freshman Guard Averaged 24.5 Points And 5.5 Threes In Lady Chaps’ Unbeaten Week

RICHARDSON, Texas (November 24, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University freshman guard Meg Meekins has been named the Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office. The honor is the first LSC weekly award of Meekins' career and continues the Lady Chaps' early-season trend of featuring one of the conference's most dynamic backcourts.

The Nocona, Texas native powered No.7 LCU to a 2–0 week, averaging 24.5 points, 5.5 made threes, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals, while shooting an elite 58.1% from the field and 64.7% from three over wins against Southern Nazarene and Southern Arkansas. Meekins led all LSC players for the week in scoring (49 points), three-point field goals (11) and three-point percentage among high-volume shooters.

Meekins delivered a breakout performance in her home debut Friday, pouring in 24 points on 6–of–8 from three—tied for the seventh-most threes in a game by an LCU player since 2008—while adding six rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 72–49 win over Southern Nazarene. She followed with 25 points on 9–of–16 shooting (5–of–9 3FG) in a 73–61 victory over Southern Arkansas, marking her second straight home game opening 3-for-3 from deep in the first quarter.

Through the week, Meekins rose to the top of the Lone Star Conference statistical leaderboard, finishing ranked No.1 in scoring (24.5 ppg), No.1 in three-point makes, No.2 in three-point percentage, No.8 in field-goal percentage (.581) and No.9 in minutes (33.2 mpg). Her 49-point week helped keep LCU unbeaten at 6–0 while extending the Lady Chaps' home winning streak to 21 consecutive games.

Meekins joins Kennedy Chappel as LSC weekly award recipients this season, as Chappell was recognized with Offensive Player of the Week accolades Nov. 5. LCU returns to action Monday evening at Southwestern Oklahoma State with a nonconference contest inside Pioneer Cellular Events Center.
