LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• Playing on the highest collegiate soccer facility in the world (elevation of over 7,700 feet), it was an uphill climb throughout the game for LCU, who suffered their first loss of the season.
• After being held to one shot in the opening half, LCU did produce five shots in the second half but the 3-0 halftime deficit was too much to overcome.
• Forward Brooke Wendl had three of LCU's six shots in the game, with two on goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• WSCU produced goals from five different individuals.  
• Samantha Braun opened the scoring for the Mountaineers 1:40 into the game. Ingrid Alvarez and Elyza Montano each added first half goals for a 3-0 lead. Samantha Taylor opened the second half scoring 1:36 into the second half. Jennifer Kahle closed the scoring in the 76th minute, scoring past Leslie Castellano, who subbed in for starter Lauren Story in the 53rd minute.
• Goals by Alvarez (25th minute) and Montano (29th minute) were recorded 3:39 apart in the opening half.
 
GAME NOTES
• The last time LCU was shutout was on Sept. 14 of last season, when they were ironically shutout by WSCU at home 1-0, which also marked their first loss of the season.
• Falling 5-0, the five-goal deficit was their biggest since a 5-0 home shutout loss to Dallas Baptist on Nov. 2, 2013.  That game also marks the last time LCU had allowed at least five goals.
• The road shutout is the ninth time LCU has been shutout on the road in program history and the first since Oct. 28, 2013 at St. Edward's.   
• LCU is now 0-2-0 all-time against Western State and 1-2-0 all-time against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference programs (only one goal scored in the three games).
• The Lady Chaparrals move to 15-13-0 all-time under head coach Alex Denning in road games.
• WSCU is now 2-0-0 against Heartland Conference programs and has out-scored HC programs 7-0 this season.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
180 : Number of consecutive shutout minutes by WSCU goalkeeper Meghan Jedrzejewski against LCU all-time. Thursday's shutout has her with an overall active shutout sequence of 183:18 carrying over from last season.
