HOW IT HAPPENED
• J.M. Villarreal opened the scoring and gave StMU a 1-0 lead 28:23 into the game for his second goal of the season.
• Okojie tied the contest 5:42 later in the 35
th minute with his first goal.
• StMU never looked back with four unanswered goals. They regained the lead with 2:23 remaining in the first half (goal by Keegan Woolley) and then produced three goals in the second half. Patricio Botello Faz placed in a header in the 56
th minute, and then Dan Johns (88
th minute) and Kiernan Akers (90
th minute) combined for a pair of goals 1:54 apart.
GAME NOTES
• Okojie's goal was his first of his collegiate career. He becomes the seventh different Chap to produce a goal this season.
• The assist credited to Brunton extends his streak to two consecutive games with a point (both assists). He leads the team in points (7, 2g,3a) and assists (3). Six of his seven points have come on the road.
• The Chaps ninth loss marks a single-season high in program history.
• The five goals allowed matches a program single-game high. It is the third time LCU has allowed five goals in a game, and the first since allowing five goals on Nov. 9, 2014 at Eastern New Mexico.
• The Chaps are now 20-14-1 all-time in Heartland Conference contests and 12-7-0 all-time in Heartland Conference road games.
• Lubbock Christian has scored at least one goal in seven consecutive games. LCU has not had at a streak of seven consecutive games with at least one goal, in a single-season, since the 2013 season. In 2013, LCU produced at least one goal in 13 straight games.
• LCU drops to 3-2-0 all-time against StMU with the loss. LCU drops to 3-2-0 all-time against StMU with the loss. Former LCU head coach Matt Barnes is in his first season coaching StMU and it was the first meeting LCU has faced a former head coach.
