SAN ANTONIO, Texas (April 28, 2016) – A solo home run by
Morgan Colburn is all Lubbock Christian University softball needed to win its first ever Heartland Conference Tournament contest by defeating the Lady Eagles of Oklahoma Christian at The Softball Stadium inside The Park at St. Mary's in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday.
COLBURN
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning and no one on base, Colburn broke-up the pitcher's duel with a rocket over the center field fence for her NCAA-leading 23rd home run of the year. The Lady Chaps (43-12) outhit Oklahoma Christian (26-25) in the game six-to-five. Two of those hit off the bat of Colburn who was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate and also drew a walk in the contest.

Molly Davison and
Liz Torres all had hits on the day.
SHUTOUT
Kelsey Hoppel got the start in the circle for the LCU and threw the first five innings allowing no runs off of three hits and striking out three Lady Eagles along the way.
Katlyn Holmes (19-4) came in to pitch the final two innings to complete the shutout to earn her 19th win of the season and the eighth shutout for the Lady Chaps this year. Madison Hagood (17-10) went the distance in the circle for OC allowing the one run off of six hits.
