DBU Sinks Chaps Comeback Bid With Late Goal

LCU Suffers Their First Loss in Dallas County

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• LCU rallied from a 2-0 second half deficit with a pair of goals to tie the game, but fell with a late goal allowed.
Mickey Brunton led LCU in shots on goal (3) and had LCU's first goal.
Cedric Omoregie tied the game at 2-2 with a goal in the contest.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• DBU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening 26 minutes of the game, as Brooks Friedman scored 10:28 into the contest and David Fraga followed with a marker in the 26th minute.
• LCU cut the deficit in half in the 66th minute with Mickey Brunton scoring, and then tied the game 3:03 later in the 69th minute with Cedric Omoregie scoring.
• Riley Alvey broke the 2-2 score with a goal as 11:59 remained. The goal stood as the game winning goal for the Patriots.
 
GAME NOTES
• Brunton's goal ended LCU's scoreless sequence at 268:06.
• LCU outshot the Patriots 26-11 and had a shots on goal advantage of 10-4. The shots matched a season high (most since 26 on Oct. 1, 2015) and the 10 shots on goal matched a season high.
• The goal from Brunton marked his second of the season (co-leads team) and his fourth career goal. Omoregie's goal was his first of the season and second of his career.
Jay Okojie was credited with an assist on Brunton's goal. It marks his first career assist and point.
• The Chaps are now 18-10-1 all-time in Heartland Conference contests and 11-4-0 all-time in Heartland Conference road games.
• LCU had 11 corner kicks taken, which is a season high (most since 11 on Oct. 5, 2015).
• LCU is now 3-1-0 all-time against DBU, as it was DBU's first ever win over LCU.
• The Chaps are now 1-5-0 on the road this season (went 6-3-0 last season on the road) and 33-22-5 all-time in road play.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
5-1-0 – The loss was LCU's first in Dallas County, as LCU entered the game 5-0-0 in Dallas County (wins over Dallas Baptist, Dallas Christian, Northwood and Wiley).
 
UP NEXT
Lubbock Christian (2-5-1, 1-2-1) remains on the road Thursday, with a stop in Canyon, Texas to face West Texas A&M (6-2-0, 3-1-0) in a West Division / Heartland Conference contest.
