Chaps Led By Defense But Unable Grab A Win

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
• Lubbock Christian University closed out the 2017 campaign Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 double overtime loss to Texas – Permian Basin at LCU Soccer Field.
• Six LCU seniors were honored, for Senior Day, prior to the match for their contributions throughout their careers at Lubbock Christian.
• The Chaps were paced by a pair of goals from their center backs in the result.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• UTPB's Brandon Lee led the high scoring match with a goal in the 11th minute on a pass from Kaina Maia.
Yuriy Sadula made his way up the field and into the box to receive a pass from Corey Hutchison just inside the 18-yard box and put Lubbock Christian into the scoring column. Sadula tucked his shot into the back side with a right footed strike to even up the score at the 36:35 mark.
• Johnathon Woods gave the Chaps a lead early in the second half with a diving header past the Falcon keeper in the 49th minute. Woods' was assisted on the play once again by Hutchison.
• Lee struck once more to even the score up at 2-2 with a finish off of a cross into the box in the 64th minute. Lee's finish was served up by Frankie Rodriguez.
• Texas – Permian Basin was able to drive a nail in the coffin in the 103rd minute with a golden-goal finish by Stephen Faria.

GAME NOTES
• Sadula's goal not only marked the first of the season for the defender but also the first of his Chaparral career.
• LCU's result against Texas – Permian Basin puts an end to their 2017 season with a 5-11-2 overall record and a 4-8-2 final record in Heartland Conference matches.
• Lubbock Christian's two goals on the afternoon marks the first multi-goal match of the season for the Chaparrals in which each goal was scored by a different player.
