Lady Chaps Burned By Late Goal

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- After 98 minutes of action, Lubbock Christian University found themselves on the wrong end of an overtime goal that allowed Newman University to a 1-0 win Thursday evening in Wichita, Kan.
- LCU were provided three shots on goal for the evening from Haley Knesek, Hailey Phipps and Makenna Pate.
- Lubbock Christian's defense held Newman to just one shot on goal in the opening period of play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vanessa Ortiz capitalized in the 99thminute after a give-and-go with Grace Linton. Ortiz crossed the net to tuck her shot just inside of the far-right post.

GAME NOTES
- Thursday night's loss drops the Lady Chaparrals to a 3-4-0 mark in Heartland Conference play.
- The Lady Chaps have so far been unsuccessful when playing on the road as they now move to an 0-4-0 away record.
- With their match against Newman going into an overtime period, Lubbock Christian holds a 1-1-0 record when playing past the 90-minute mark this season.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
3: After outshooting the Jets by a 13-11 margin, the Lady Chaps have played in three contests where they were defeated while logging more shot attempts than their opponent.

Up next on the docket for the Lubbock Christian women will be a trip to Oklahoma City, Okla. LCU will take on conference foes Oklahoma Christian Saturday, Oct. 6 at noon on OC's Eagle Soccer Field.
