OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (February 25, 2018) – Lubbock Christian University Lady Chap softball shutout the Lady Eagles 11-0 in game one before falling 9-0 in game two at Tm Heath Field in Oklahoma City on Sunday.
LEADOFF
LCU (9-4, 3-1) leadoff batter
Courtney Medina led off the game with a triple and two batters later
Sydney Beuthien singled up the middle to drive in Medina.
Morgan Dufour followed with a shot to center field to bring in
Lindzi Clemmer before Beuthien scored off the bat of
KK Lopez-Lui to put LCU up 3-0 at the end of the first inning.
TWO OUTS
Pinch hitter
Haley Hardison singled to center field to plate Beuthien in the third inning before the Lady Chaps broke the game open with two outs in the fourth inning with three additional runs. Medina drew a walk followed by hitting a double to right center field to bring in Medina. Beuthien followed with a two-run bomb over the left field fence. With two outs in the fifth inning LCU added four more runs in the fifth inning.
Casey Ingram scored from third base on a passed ball followed by a three-run homerun off the bat of Dufour.
IN THE CIRCLE
Monique Francois (6-1) started in the circle for the Lady Chaps going the distance not allowing any runs on five hits while striking out five to earn her sixth win of the year. Madison Hagood (2-3) got the start for Oklahoma Christian (9-8, 1-1) throwing 4.1 innings giving up nine runs on ten hits to suffer her third loss of the season. Hannah Andrews pitched 0.2 innings of relief for the Lady Eagles giving up two runs while walking three Lady Chaps.
ROLES REVERSED
In the second game of the double header Lubbock Christian failed to score a run while Bridget White, Madison Nordyke, Lacey Davidson and Daelyn Denny each drove in a pair of runs for the Lady Eagles. Kaylie Upton (6-1) allowed only two hits to shutout the Lady Chaps and notch her sixth victory of 2018.
Clarissa Martinez (2-2) pitched the first two innings for LCU allowing four funs off four hits to fall for the second time this year.
Taylor Hinojos and
Amber Carlton each pitched an inning of relief for the Lady Chaps.
BACK HOME
The Lady Chaps return home to face the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at PlainsCapital Park.
