AUSTIN, Texas (April 6, 2018) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals committed eight errors Friday, splitting their Heartland Conference doubleheader at St. Edward's. LCU claimed the opener 8-1 before falling 6-2 in the second game at Diane Daniels Field in Austin.
ERRORS
The Hilltoppers (4-32, 4-16) scored a run in the second inning courtesy of two LCU errors in the opening game.
TWO OUTS
The Lady Chaps (23-11, 12-8) scored five runs in the fourth inning, with all runs scoring with two outs in the inning.

Averi Miller followed, driving a ball through the left side to knock in
Adelae Vayas.
Lindzi Clemmer continued the trend with a double to left centerfield to plate
Courtney Medina and Miller, before
Sydney Beuthien drove a ball up the middle to score Clemmer. LCU added a run in the fifth inning, once again with two outs in the inning when Medina singled to left field to bring in
Morgan Dufour.
INSURANCE
Lubbock Christian plated two insurance runs in the seventh inning, with the first coming via a bases-loaded bunt single by Miller to score
Casey Ingram. The other was scored by Clemmer, who earned a RBI on a bases-loaded walk scoring
Sara Ralston.
IN THE CIRCLE
Monique Francois (17-3) started in the circle for the Lady Chaps, throwing the first six innings and allowing one run off four hits to earn her 17
th win of the year.
Taylor Hinojos pitched a clean inning of relief. Keely Frazier (1-8) got the start for SEU, throwing 3.2 innings and giving up five runs on five hits to suffer her eighth loss of the season. Reagan Carter pitched the final 3.1 innings for the Hilltoppers, surrendering three more runs on six hits.
MORE ERRORS
In game two, St. Edward's managed two runs in the second inning, courtesy of a Lady Chap fielding error. LCU's Clemmer tripled in the third inning to score Medina, followed by Clemmer scoring off the bat of Beuthien to tie the game.
EVEN MORE ERRORS
Two additional Lady Chap errors in the fifth inning led to four additional Hilltopper runs. In all, LCU committed four errors for a second straight game, leading to three unearned runs.
IN THE CIRCLE
Clarissa Martinez started in the circle in game two for Lubbock Christian. She lasted 1.1 innings and allowed two runs off two hits and walked three batters before giving way to Hinojos (0-3), who pitched the final 4.2 innings. Hinojos gave up one earned run off four hits, while striking out three Hilltoppers to suffer her third loss of 2018. Olivia Burdick started the game for SEU throwing the first four innings. She allowed two runs on three hits, before game one starter, Frazier (2-8), came in to pitch the final three innings. She did not give up any runs and and held LCU to one hit to notch her second win of the season.
RUBBER MATCH
The two teams will play the final game of the series Saturday at noon.
