Lady Chaps Fly High In Win Over Falcons

LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Thursday afternoon saw the Lubbock Christian University women's soccer squad back into the win column as they claimed a 1-0 win at home over University of Texas – Permian Basin.
- The Lady Chaparrals logged 17 corner kicks for the day while holding the Falcons to one attempt.
- LCU registered 26 shots in the second period alone. For the day, the Lady Chap squad landed 10 shots on goal.
- Freshman forward Makenna Pate accounted for 13 shots on the afternoon marking a new Lubbock Christian program record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a long contest of being unable to find the net, Gabby Gomez was finally able to capitalize on a corner kick from Tegan Wilson. Gomez planted herself at the back post and headed home the game winner in the 101st minute.

GAME NOTES
- After three scoreless periods of play, the Lady Chaparrals were finally able to put their stamp on the game in the second and final overtime period.
- Texas – Permian Basin was forced to play with 10 women on the field after Kalee Overmeyer earned a red card in the 20th minute. Overmeyer was sent off following a foul in which she was the last defender against LCU's Hollie Windham.
- LCU's win marks the first of the season moving the Lady Chaparrals to 1-2-0 for the year.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
43: The Lady Chaparrals maintained a constant pressure on the offensive end of the field against UTPB logging 43 shots. Their team shooting performance ranks fourth all-time in program history.

UP NEXT
Lubbock Christian will now hit the road for a Saturday afternoon showdown in Weatherford, Okla. against Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The contest between the programs will serve as their first ever meeting. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at SWOSU Athletic Complex.
