HOW IT HAPPENED
- SEU broke through early, putting in a rebound after LCU goalkeeper Braxton Thorne made a save to take their 1-0 lead
- The first Chap scoring chance of the day in the 22nd minute thanks to the speed of Pablo Galietero Diez, but his shot past the keeper went wide. He also had LCU's first shot on goal just before the end of the first half, but it was saved by Hilltopper keeper Kellen Gullion
- Lubbock Christian controlled the second half, looking to break through for the equalizer. The first two chances came from Agustine Contreras Orsi, but both were saved
- The Chaps had two great scoring chances with 15 and 13 minutes to play, but both time the linesman called LCU for offside
- Fernando Flores had the best LCU scoring chance of the game in the 89th minute, taking a free kick just outside of the 18-yard box after a Hilltopper yellow card. Flores fired on frame, but hit the post
- Flores had one more shot on goal with 10 seconds to play, but SEU's keeper made the save and secured their trip to the second half
LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Diez and Flores lead the team with three shots apiece
- Thorne made six saves in the loss, bringing his season total to 67 on 205 shots faced
- Tuesday's loss marked the eighth time this season that LCU's defense allowed just one goal from an opponent, dropping them to 4-2-2 in those contests. The Chaps' goals against average for the year was 1.72
CHAPARRAL NOTES
- Lubbock Christian ends the season with 33 goals scored, which was the exact same total they finished with in 2018
- The Chaps' first year in the Lone Star Conference finished with a 9-7-2 overall record and a fifth place spot in the tournament after they were picked sixth in the preseason poll
- LCU was shut out in their second straight game after previously being shut out one other time all season. The last time they were shut out in back-to-back games was on September 22 and 27 of 2018
- St. Edward's now leads the all-time series between the two teams with their fifth win. The Chaps have not beaten the Hilltoppers since the first meeting between the squads in 2013
- Lubbock Christian recorded 10 shots in the game, marking the 11th time this season that they reached the double-digit mark in that statistical category
