HOW IT HAPPENED
- LCU got the game's first scoring chance as Tariq Bakkali put a shot on goal in the 15th minute, but it was saved by StMU goalkeeper Jacob Sayle
- Chap goalkeeper Braxton Thorne made saves in the 15th and 17th minutes to keep the Rattlers from gaining an early lead, and neither team had a shot on goal for the rest of the half
- Richie Vaca-Cordova missed high with a shot in the first minute of the second half before St. Mary's broke the scoreless tie in the 59th minute. Martin Ibarreche scored the goal for the Rattlers
- Thorne kept St. Mary's from doubling the lead just five minutes later with another save
- Conner Dean evened up the score in with a goal in the 74th minute and had two more shots before the game ended, but the game went to overtime still knotted at 1-all
- St. Mary's earned two corner kicks early in the first overtime and put a shot on goal that was saved by the LCU defense
- Another team save came in the 105th minute, and Thorne stopped another shot on goal in the 108th minute to keep the Rattlers from scoring the game-winner
LCU HIGHLIGHTS
- Adding one more point in the conference standings, LCU has now secured its spot in the 2019 Lone Star Conference Championship. The Chaps currently sit in fifth with 14 points and one game to play. The top six teams at the end of the season make the tournament
- Lubbock Christian ended a nine-match win streak for the Rattlers. They had not lost or drawn since falling to Texas A&M International on September 26
- Saturday's match against St. Mary's was the first for the Chaps against a top-five ranked opponent since they faced No. 3 Midwestern State in 2017. They also fought to a 1-1 draw in that game
CHAPARRAL NOTES
- Dean's goal was his first of the season and made him the 10th different Chap to score this season. His last goal was on October 25, 2018 against Eastern New Mexico
- Lubbock Christian went into overtime for the sixth time in the last seven games. Their six overtime games this season match the program record, which was set last year. They are 3-1-2 in overtime games this year
- The Chaps extended their streak of games with at least one goal to ten games. They have not been shut out since September 20 at Concordia
- Saturday's draw was the first in the all-time series between LCU and StMU. The Chaps are now 5-3-1 against the Rattlers in program history
- Jonathan Woods played all 110 minutes of the game and is the only Chap field player to have played every minute of every game so far this year (1437 minutes)
- Tariq Bakkali had two shots and one shot on goal in the game. He is second on the team in both of those categories this season with 29 shots and 12 shots on goal

- Lubbock Christian will close out the regular season next week, hosting West Texas A&M at noon on Thursday for Senior Day before traveling to Eastern New Mexico on Saturday
