LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
India Holland produced a pinch-hit two-run home run on a smash to right field with two outs in the fifth inning. LCU pitcher Jordan Wehr came into pitch the fifth inning and was able record two quick outs, but then Holland's homer changed things.  The inning remained alive and LCU committed a pair of errors leading to a third run scoring in the inning and a 10-5 lead was cut to 10-8.

How it Happened:
  • Alivia Villarreall opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run single, which was part of a four-run inning. Arredondo doubled to right field to contribute to the inning. She would later result in a costly out, as LCU's attempt to score on back-to-back wild pitches was negated with Arredondo called out at the plate trying to advance on a pitch to the backstop from third base. Little would you know that would turn out to be much-needed run.
  • Amelya Huggins tallied WT's first runs of the game on a bullet up the middle with two outs to score a pair. LCU, leading 4-2, responded in the home-half of the inning with another four-run inning. KK Lopez-Liu followed a Clemmer RBI-single (her 200th career hit) with a three-run home run for her second homer of the season. LCU led 8-2 at the close of the inning.
  • WT scored a pair of runs in the third inning and Shanna McBroom capped a string of three straight WT runs with a single down the right field line in the fourth inning to cut LCU's lead to 8-5.
  • LCU's final runs came in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lopez-Liu registered her fourth RBI of the game with a double to left field and Villarreal sent a single up the middle to extend the lead to 10-5. LCU would be held to one hit over the remaining 3.2 innings. Meanwhile, WT's offense continued with the fifth inning spark of Holland's home run. Shaynee Starkey, the winning pitcher in relief (5-1), helped her cause in a three-run sixth inning with a two-run double up the middle, resulting in the winning RBI.

 Inside the Numbers:
  • Lindzi Clemmer became the fifth Lady Chap in program history to notch 200-career hits. Her next plateau awaiting is 234 career hits, which would move her past Sydney Beuthien and into fourth on LCU's all-time hit list.
  • LCU hit the 10-run mark for an eighth time this season (13th game of the season). They entered the game leading NCAA Div.II in runs per game (10.7).
  • Not to celebrate a strikeout, but K'Leigh Arredondo had a strikeout Tuesday and it was her first of the season. She had gone 36 at-bats without a strikeout to start the season and was one of 165 NCAA Div. II players to start the day without a strikeout on the season(of qualified batters).
  • Four WT players had multi-hit performances, led by Alyx Cordell, who was 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.
  • Amber Carlton held WT to one hit over 2.0 innings of relief work and struck out four of the seven batters she faced.
  • The Lady Chaps 3-4-5 hitters in the lineup (Clemmer, Lopez-Liu and Villrreal) were a combined 8-for-11 at the plate with eight RBI and seven runs scored.
  • LCU committed four errors and it led to three unearned runs scoring. LCU is averaging 1.5 unearned runs scoring per game. The four errors were one shy of a season-high, but they have now committed at least four errors in a game in two of their last three games (Tuesday marked their third game in which they had at least four errors this season).
  • WT stranded 12 runners in the game.
  • LCU is now 1-1 against WT this season and they meet again in Canyon, Texas on Mar. 5.
