AUSTIN, Texas (March 19, 2019) – Lubbock Christian University split their fifth Heartland Conference doubleheader of the season, falling 5-2 before defeating St. Edward's 7-4 at Diane Daniels Field. LCU also announced Friday's doubleheader with University of the Southwest has been postponed to assist USW with a scheduling conflict.

Morgan Dufour followed a
Megan Darling single in the top of the fourth inning, with the score tied 2-2, but lined into a double play. The following 11 LCU batters were retired in order.
How it Happened:
- LCU took the opening lead with a two-run single by Arredondo in the third inning to lead 2-0.
- Kathryn Connelly tripled in a run in the bottom of the third inning for SEU to cap a two-run inning, which tied the game.
- A trio of hits combined with an LCU error allowed SEU to take the lead with a two-run fifth inning.
- A leadoff walk led to an insurance run in the sixth inning to lead 5-2.
- Julisa Ortega pitched a complete game (2-2) allowed one hit to the final 14 batters faced and faced the minimum over the final 4.2 innings.
Inside the Numbers:
- The four hits were the second-fewest total produced this season by LCU.
- Of SEU's six base hits, three were infield singles.
- LCU fell to 14-4 in games when scoring first.
- The Lady Chaps were 0-for-7 in two-out at-bats.

Turning Point:
KK Lopez-Liu's at-bats were huge factors for LCU. Her double to lead off the fifth inning led to LCU tying the game, and her two-run double in the sixth inning scored a pair of runs, as LCU regained the lead.
How it Happened:
- LCU scored first, scoring in the first inning. Clemmer reached, then stole second and advanced home after a series of wild pitches.
- Kayla Appleby provided SEU their first lead in the game with a two-run base hit, which was part of a three-run second inning for a 3-1 lead.
- LCU had nobody aboard base with two outs and rallied off a trio of walks and a single by Arredondo to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of the third inning.
- Lopez-Liu led off the fifth inning with a double and eventually scored to tie the game 3-3. They took the lead with a three-run sixth inning, which included doubles from Arredondo and Lopez-Liu.
- LCU's Amber Carlton replaced Jordan Wehr in the circle and surrendered a home run to the first batter she faced (Connelly). LCU was able to get the run back with a RBI-double from Clemmer in the seventh inning.
Inside the Numbers:
- LCU improved to 14-3 when scoring in the first inning.
- Lopez-Liu's four hit performance marks LCU's fourth produced this season. The mark is a career-best for Lopez-Liu. LCU did not have a four-hit performance in a game last season.
- Amber Carlton recorded her first save in relief this season and it is the second in her LCU career.
- Of Lopez-Liu's four-hit performance, she was 3-for-3 in at-bats with runners on base.
- LCU stranded 11 base runners and had 24 at-bats with at least one runner on base. SEU pitcher Reagan Carter walked seven of eight batters the Hilltoppers issued.

LCU and USW postponed their Friday doubleheader, as USW was obligated to comply with a scheduling conflict and will instead be playing conference games which were originally adjusted due to weather. With the changes, LCU's next game is Tuesday in Portales, N.M. against Eastern New Mexico.
