Game 1 vs. ENMU
LCU Highlights:
- Morgan Dufour 2-for-2 with two home runs (one grand slam), six RBI and three runs.
- KK Lopez-Liu 2-for-2 with a home run, four RBI and two runs.
- Savannah Wysocki 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs.
- Taylor Franco gets the win (10-5), allowing one hit over 4.0 innings and not allowing an earned run.
Turning Point:
Morgan Dufour helped put the game away early, capping a six-run bottom of the first inning with a grand slam.
How it Happened:
- ENMU starting pitcher Kimberly Herron pitched in two phases during the game. She struggled at the start, walking four of the first six batters she faced, which led to LCU taking a 2-0 lead. ENMU made a change in the circle, and Karina Moreno was welcomed into the circle surrendering a grand slam home run off the bat off Morgan Dufour to complete the six-run first inning.
- ENMU received their first run of the game in the second inning, and LCU matched the run in the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run by KK Lopez-Liu for a 7-1 lead.
- LCU made it 11-1 in the third inning with a four-run inning. Wysocki clubbed a liner off the centerfield fence for the first run of the inning. K'leigh Arredondo followed with a sacrifice fly RBI. With two-outs, Lopez-Liu hit a shallow pop-up, which landed harmlessly in centerfield with several players converging. The hit plated a pair of runs.
- Dufour hit her second home run of the game in the fourth inning and the two-run shot provided LCU a 13-1 lead.
- The Greyhounds Iliana Mendoza hit a two-run double with two outs in the fifth inning.
Inside the Numbers:
- Morgan Dufour's two home runs place her with 50 home runs in her collegiate career. Her grand slam was her first ever as a member of the Lady Chaps and it is the second slam of the season by LCU (Alexis Reed had the other this season and the two slams on the season surpasses last season's total of one).
- Of SEU's six base hits, three were infield singles.
- LCU improved to 18-4 when they score first and 17-3 when they score first in the inning.
- KK Lopez-Liu hit her team-leading seventh home run of the season and 15th of her career.
- Morgan Dufour's six runs-batted-in is a season high mark for the Lady Chaps. It is the highest total since Lopez-Liu drove in six runs on Apr. 13 at Oklahoma Christian.
- LCU drew eight walks in the game. It is the fourth time this season LCU has drawn at least eight walks.
Game 2 vs. ENMU
LCU Highlights:
- KK Lopez-Liu 3-for-3 with two RBI.
- Lindzi Clemmer 2-for-3 with a two RBI and a run scored.
- Breanna Anderson 1-for-2 with her double serving as the only extra-base hit in the game.
- Neither of the two runs allowed were earned by LCU. Jordan Wehr (8-3) claimed the win allowing two unearned runs off three hits. Freshman Taylor Franco came in and pitched the final 2.1 innings for her first collegiate save.
Turning Point:
Taylor Franco came into relief at the perfect time, as LCU clung to a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning with two outs. She forced Mendoza into grounding out with the tying run aboard to escape the jam.
How it Happened:
- Lopez-Liu began the scoring for LCU with an RBI single to right centerfield in the third inning.
- LCU added to the lead with a two-run single up the middle in the fourth inning to help LCU go up 3-0.
- A fielding error led to an unearned run scoring to place ENMU on the scoreboard in the fifth inning.
- Elysa Rodriguez singled and ENMU cut LCU's lead to 3-2 in the fifth inning.
- Franco struck out four batters in 2.1 innings, including a pair in a 1-2-3 top of the seventh inning to help LCU defeat ENMU with a save.
Inside the Numbers:
- LCU improved to 6-1 in one-run games.
- LCU completed a four-game season series sweep of Eastern New Mexico and improve to 32-0 all-time in the head-to-head series against ENMU.
- All five runs in the game were scored with two outs. Lindzi Clemmer had a pair of two-out RBI and increased her team-lead in two-out RBI to 18 on the season.
- ENMU was 1-for-11 with runners on base in the game.
