SAN ANTONIO, Texas (April 9, 2019) – Lubbock Christian University was swept in a doubleheader for the first time this season, falling 1-0 and 9-2 at St. Mary's University, which has knocked them into fourth place in the Heartland Conference standings and has issued them their first three-game losing streak of the season.

Trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning, LCU had two runners aboard with one out, as
Savannah Wysocki hit a fly ball to centerfield. The out was recorded, but it resulted into a double play, as
Alexa Riggs, the runner at first base, had inadvertently advanced to second base and was doubled up. Seven of the remaining eight LCU batters were retired fooling the brief rally attempt.
How it Happened:
- The lone run of the game was scored in the bottom of the second inning and it was un unearned run scoring with a two-out error.
- Taylor Franco started the game for LCU and went 2.1 innings before an emergency departure in the third inning.
- LCU was held to two hits in the game by Staci Johns and LCU was unable to garner a hit from their final 14 batters.

- The loss places LCU with a 6-4 record in games decided by a run. It marks their third consecutive loss resulting in a one-run loss.
- For the third time this season (each have happened within the previous six games), LCU allowed at least one run but did not allow an earned run in the game (second consecutive game they did not allow and earned run).
- The two teams were a combined 0-for-20 with runners on base, as LCU was 0-for-9 and StMU was 0-for-11.
- Of StMU's 11 balls put into play and resulting into outs, nine were groundouts.
- LCU was held to two hits, which is their second fewest amount of hits this season (held to one on Mar. 13 at Rogers State).
- The shutout marked LCU's second shutout loss of the season.

LCU, trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, had two outs, but an infield error led to five unearned runs scoring, which led to a 9-2 deficit.
How it Happened:
- Taylor Germain opened the bottom of the first inning with a double and Victoria Aldridge and Raynelle Nash each followed with singles to give StMU a 1-0 lead. A groundout in the inning allowed StMU to take a 2-0 advantage.
- LCU quickly responded with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. Alivia Villarreal led off with a single and eventually scored on a groundout by Megan Darling. Annika Schwartzenberg produced the other RBI in the inning.
- Staci Johns regained the StMU lead in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run home run by Staci Johns.
- The Rattlers sent nine batters to the plate in the fourth inning, as they had one on base with two outs before an error opened the door for two singles, a double and a walk, which led to a five-run inning and a 9-2 lead.
- LCU was held to one hit over their final 15 plate appearances.
Inside the Numbers:
- LCU fell to 5-6 when the opposition scores in the first inning (5-9 when the opponent scores first).
- LCU allowed five unearned runs and have allowed nine unearned runs in their last three games, with four earned runs over the span (LCU is allowing an average of 1.05 unearned runs per game).
- Lubbock Christian went 1-for-10 with runners on base.
- The Lady Chaps defense has committed eight errors in their last three games. They had four errors in the game, which was their fourth game this season with at least four errors. They are unfortunately averaging 1.7 errors per game.

LCU wrapped up their five-game road trip with a 1-4 record and return home to host Rogers State University. The series was originally scheduled to be played Friday and Saturday, but the two programs have filed a request to change the the playing dates to Thursday and Friday with concerns over Saturdays weather interrupting the series.
