Chaps Look to Bounce Back Against Eastern New Mexico

LCU is Winless in Last Five Matches

LUBBOCK, Texas – Fresh off a 5-0 loss to West Texas A&M, the Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team looks to bounce back against Eastern New Mexico.

CHAPARRAL HEADERS
  • The Chaps are coming off a 5-0 loss to West Texas A&M. The loss was the first time the Chaps have been defeated by five or more goals since Oct. 31, 2019, when they lost 6-1 to Texas A&M International.
  • LCU has gone 0-3-2 in their last five games, last winning on Sept. 16 against Northwest Nazarene.
  • The Chaps have taken 115 shots, 51 of which have been on goal.
  • LCU averages 1.70 goals per game on 11.5 shots a game.
I CAN SEE FOR MILES AND MILES
  • Tom Miles has been one of the best goalkeepers in the nation this season, ranking 17th nationally in total saves.
  • He is first in the Lone Star Conference in saves and saves per game.
  • Miles recorded shutouts against Northwest Nazarene and Dallas Baptist.
THE NOT-SO-SECRET WEAPON
  • The Chaps have been led offensively by Graduate Student Pablo Galietero Diez who has scored four goals and two assists this season.
  • He ranks top-10 in the Lone Star in shots, shots on goal, goals, and points.
  • In his career, Pablo has scored 24 goals and recorded 48 points.
SUPER SAIMON
  • Saimon Gjeci has made a huge impact in his first season with the Chaps, scoring four goals and adding an assist through the first ten games.
  • Gjeci is top-10 in the LSC in goals and points.
DISHIN' IN OUT
  • Sophomore Enzo Jaques has recorded four assists this season, the fourth most in the Lone Star Conference.
  • Jaques scored the game winning goals against Adams State and Northwest Nazarene. His two game winners rank him third in the LSC in GWs.
 
FURTHER BACK
  • The Lubbock Christian men's soccer program began in 2010 with a 3-1 win against the University of the Southwest (N.M.). On Nov. 9, 2021, in the opening round of the LSC Tournament, the Chaps won their 100th match in program history, rolling over UT Permian Basin 6-0.
  • The Chap program enters the 2023 season with an overall record of 108-89-27.
THE SERIES WITH EASTERN NEW MEXICO
  • The Chaps are 5-7-4 all-time against the Greyhounds, with a 2-2-3 home record.
  • LCU shut out ENMU last season, winning 3-0.
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
  • Eastern New Mexico is coming off a 4-2 upset of #16 St. Mary's. The win gave the Greyhounds their first win in Lone Star play.
  • ENMU opened LSC action last Wednesday with a 3-0 loss to West Texas A&M.
  • The Greyhounds have been outscored 15 to 21 this season, allowing 2.10 goals per game on 11.3 shots a game.
  • ENMU's offense is led by Ignacio Lopez, Nick Huenig, and Giani Mascarel who have recorded three goals each.
  • Huenig is the reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Paul Waschkau has made 19 saves on 69 shots faced in goal for the Greyhounds.
  • The Greyhounds are coached by Brandon Misuraca who is in his 2nd season.
A WIN WOULD
  • Give the Chaps their fifth win of the season.
  • Give LCU their 114th win in program history.
  • Give the Chaps a 1-1-1 conference record.
