Chaps Travel to Oklahoma City to Take on Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Coming off a 5-1 loss to Midwestern State, the Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team travels to Oklahoma City to take on Oklahoma Christian.

CHAPARRAL HEADERS
  • The Chaps are coming off a 5-1 loss against #2 Midwestern State, their third loss of the season.
  • LCU has gone 0-3-5 in their last eight matches, last winning on Sept. 16 against Northwest Nazarene.
  • The Chaps' six draws is the most draws in a season in program history.
  • LCU have taken 149 shots, 70 of which have been on goal.
  • The Chaps average 1.38 goals per game on 11.5 shots a game.
  • LCU comes into Saturday's match in 9th place in the LSC standings.
SCORING WOES
  • The Chaps have been shutout five of their last eight matches, their goal against Midwestern State was their first goal since Oct. 4.
  • LCU has only scored three goals in Lone Star play, the least in the LSC.  
 I CAN SEE FOR MILES AND MILES
  • Tom Miles has been one of the best goalkeepers in the nation this season, ranking 14th nationally in total saves.
  • He is first in the Lone Star Conference in saves and saves per game.
  • Miles has recorded four shutouts, the second most in the Lone Star. The shutouts came against Northwest Nazarene, Dallas Baptist, Eastern New Mexico, and UT Tyler.
  • Tom is the reigning LSC Goalkeeper of the week.
THE NOT-SO-SECRET WEAPON
  • The Chaps have been led offensively by Graduate Student Pablo Galietero Diez who has scored five goals and two assists this season.
  • He ranks top-10 in the Lone Star in shots, shots on goal, goals and points.
  • In his career, Pablo has scored 24 goals.
SUPER SAIMON
  • Saimon Gjeci has made a huge impact in his first season with the Chaps, scoring four goals and adding an assist.
DISHIN' IN OUT
  • Sophomore Enzo Jaques has recorded four assists this season, the eighth most in the Lone Star Conference.
  • Jaques scored the game winning goals against Adams State and Northwest Nazarene. His two game winners rank him third in the LSC in GWs.
FURTHER BACK
  • The Lubbock Christian men's soccer program began in 2010 with a 3-1 win against the University of the Southwest (N.M.). On Nov. 9, 2021, in the opening round of the LSC Tournament, the Chaps won their 100th match in program history, rolling over UT Permian Basin 6-0.
  • The Chap program enters the 2023 season with an overall record of 108-89-27.
THE SERIES WITH OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
  • The Chaps have dominated the all-time series against the Eagles, coming into Saturday's match with a 10-4-3 record.
  • Earlier this season, they drew 2-2 in Lubbock.
  • LCU is 2-1-2 all-time on the road against Oklahoma Christian.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • Oklahoma Christian is coming off a 3-1 win over UT Tyler on Wednesday.
  • The Eagles come in Saturday's match in 4th place in the LSC standings.
  • They have been outscored 16 to 21 this season, scoring 1.14 goals per game on 11.2 shots a game.
  • The Eagle offense is led by Ellis Jones who has scored five goals this season.
  • Flynn Koemer has made 31 saves on 116 shots faced in goal for the Eagles. He allows 1.43 goals per game and has a .633 save percentage.
  • The Eagles are coached by Mitchell Sowerby who is in his 3rd season.
A WIN WOULD
  • Give the Chaps their fifth win of the season.
  • Give LCU their 114th win in program history.
  • Give the Chaps a 1-2-3 conference record.
