Chaps Look to Bounce Back Against Regis Saturday Afternoon

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Coming off two consecutive losses the Lubbock Christian University men's basketball team looks to rebound against Regis (Co.) on Saturday afternoon at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio.

THE SERIES
Lubbock Christian is 4-3 all-time against Regis. The last time the two programs met was during last season's LSC v RMAC Challenge with LCU edging the Rangers 66-59 in Denver, Colo.

THE FANTASTIC FOUR

Four Chaps are averaging double-digit points this season, with Tiras Morton leading the way averaging 16 points and 9.3 rebounds a game. Morton scored a season-high 21 points in the loss to Colorado School of Mines on Friday. Najeeb Muhammad has scored an efficient 14.3 points a game while shooting 53.3 percent from the field. Muhammad was named to the D2 CCA Tip-off Classic All-Tournament Team. Ethan Duncan has added 13.3 points per game and leads the team in made three pointers with 10. Kendall Dow enters Saturday's game averaging 11.7 points a game. He scored a career high 21 points in the opening night win over No. 6 Lincoln Memorial.  
 
 
LAST TIME OUT
Lubbock Christian fell 61-59 to No. 18 Colorado School of Mines, in San Antonio on Friday afternoon. After a Kurt Wegscheider jump shot gave LCU a three-point lead with 6:10 left to play, the Chaps were outscored nine to four down the stretch. The Chaps lone made field goal in that stretch was a Wegschieder layup at the final buzzer. LCU shot 1-for-7 from the field and 0-for-2 from three in the final six minutes.
 
LOOKING AT THE RANGERS
  • Regis finished 12-17 in 2022-23, falling in the opening round of the RMAC Conference Tournament to Fort Lewis College.
  • The Rangers opened their season with an 81-78 loss to St. Mary's (TX) on Friday.
  • Chase Mayo Harmon led the way for Regis, scoring 15 points and grabbing four boards.
  • Olafur Styrmisson (12 points) and Vojin Mastilovic (11 points) also scored in double figures in the loss.
  • The Rangers shot 40 percent from the field and 32 percent from deep against the Rattlers.
  • Regis committed 23 turnovers in the loss leading to 16 points.
  • The Rangers were picked eighth in the RMAC Preseason Poll.
  • Regis is coached by Brady Bergeson who is in his 9th season at the helm.
 
A WIN WOULD
  • Give the Chaps a 2-2 record.
  • Be the 223rd win in the Coach Duncan era.
  • Give LCU a 5-3 all-time record against Regis.
