Chaps Look to Bounce Back Against Northern New Mexico

ODESSA, Texas – The Lubbock Christian University men's basketball team will face-off with Northern New Mexico in the final game of the Walk On's Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off with the Eagles is set for 2 p.m. from the Falcon Dome.

LAST TIME OUT
LCU guard Aaron Gonzales scored a career-high 24 points, including 19 in the second half to lead LCU on an impressive run to give the Chaps a double-digit lead over Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Savage Storm finished the game on a 21 to six run to close out the game with a four-point win.

Graduate Student Tiras Morton has made a huge impact in his first season in Lubbock. He is leading the team with 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He has been very efficient on the offensive end shooting 57.6 percent from the field and 69.4 percent from the foul line. Morton has also been the anchor of the LCU defense, protecting the rim and guarding opponent ball handlers. He swatted six shots and grabbed three steals in the first six games.
 
ALL EYES ON NAJEEB
Junior Najeeb Muhammad has commanded the Chap offense averaging 14 points and a team leading 3.2 assists per game. Muhammad is shooting 53.4 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from behind the arc. He has been greedy on the defensive end collecting 13 steals this season.

MAKE IT RAIN
Redshirt Freshman Ethan Duncan is leading the Lone Star Conference with 19 made three pointers. Duncan is shooting a very impressive 48.7 percent from downtown. He is averaging 11.8 points and 3.2 made threes a night.
 
 LOOKING AT THE EAGLES
  • Northern New Mexico enters Saturday with a 1-7 record and a seven-game losing streak.
  • The Eagles average 73.8 points per game while their opponents average 84.
  • The Eagles fell 86-56 to UT Permian Basin on Friday.
