Chaps Open Conference Play on the Road at Oklahoma Christian

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lubbock Christian University men's basketball team opens Lone Star Conference play on Thursday on the road against Oklahoma Christian. The game tips at 7:30 p.m. inside the Payne Athletic Center.

THE SERIES
This matchup marks the 48th meeting between the Chaps and Eagles, not falling in favor of LCU. The Eagles control the series 25-22, but the Chaps have won the previous four meetings. Last season, the Chaps pulled out a 70-68 overtime win.
 
ABOUT OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
  • The Eagles are in their 4th year with Head Coach Kendre Talley at the helm.
  • OC opened the season 2-3, picking up wins over No. 13 Black Hills State 72-53 and Randall 108-65.
  • Moun'Tae Edmundson is leading the offense for OC averaging 15 points and two assists a night.
  • The Eagles are averaging 78.4 points a game shooting 43.7 percent from the field.
 
LAST TIME OUT – LCU
The Chaps wrapped up the Walk On's Thanksgiving Classic with a convincing 93-52 victory over Northern New Mexico on Saturday afternoon. The Chaps dominated from the start en route to the blowout as five players scored in double-figures. For the third consecutive game, Aaron Gonzales led the team as he dropped 19 points and grabbed five boards. Forward Tiras Morton recorded his second double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and collecting 10 rebounds.
 
LAST TIME OUT – OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
The Eagles conceded their first home loss of the season on Saturday, falling 92-87 to Harding. After shooting 3-for-6 from behind the arc in the first half, the Eagles struggled from three-point range in the second shooting 22.2 percent (2-of-9). Bryce Kennedy led the way for the Eagle offense scoring 13 points and grabbing five boards. Nikolas Traylor (12) and Moun'Tae Edmundson also scored in double figures for the Eagles.

  • Give the Chaps a 5-3 record.

  • Give the Chaps a conference opener win for the fourth consecutive year.
