Savannah Wysocki Drafted In Inaugural Professional Softball League in Mexico

Wysocki Was The Second Outfielder Selected (Overall), as She Was Chosen By Tabasco

MEXICO CITY (December 7, 2023) - The Mexican Softball League (LMS) held their inaugural draft Thursday afternoon at Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium (Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú) for the league's historic first season, and the second outfielder drafted in the round of outfielders was former Lubbock Christian University outfielder Savannah Wysocki, who was selected by Villahermosa, Mexico based Olmecas de Tabasco.
 
Wysocki was one of 20 players selected by Olmecas de Tabasco. The draft rounds were conducted by position and Round 11 was the first round to draft outfielders. Tabasco had the second pick in the round and chose Wysocki. Tabasco drafted six outfielders. The historic draft was earth-shaking process, as the draft encountered an earthquake delay while seismic alarms sounded.
 
The El Paso, Texas native appeared in 174 games with LCU (2019-22) and hit .359. Wysocki posted 220 career hits with 86 career RBI over four seasons, and is LCU's all-time leader in triples (22) and stolen bases (86). She is still around Lubbock, as she is attends Texas Tech Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Carrying dual citizenship, Wysocki has played internationally with the Mexico National Team, which claimed Bronze at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games sanctioned by WBSC Americas.
 
The Mexican Baseball League (LMB), a WBSC Associated member, and the Mexican Softball Federation (FMS) officially presented the Mexican Softball League (LMS), the first professional women's softball circuit in Mexico. Six LMB clubs will participate in the historic first edition of the Mexican Softball League in 2024: Diablos Rojos del México, Bravos de León, El Águila de Veracruz, Leones de Yucatán, Olmecas de Tabasco and Sultanes de Monterrey.

The LMS aims to professionalize women's sports and promote the sport in Mexico. Its first season is set to get underway January 25, 2024. Each team will play a total of 24 series, 12 at home and 12 on the road. The regular season ends on March 3, 2024, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals in a best-of-five series to be played from March 5-10, 2024.
 
The winners of the semi-finals will play the Serie de la Reina (Queen's Series), a five-game series from 12-17 March to determine the first-ever Mexican Softball League champion. The clubs will use their LMB stadiums for the Mexican Softball League. Estadio Centenario 27 de Febrero serves as the homefield for Tabasco.
