Box Score KINGSVILLE, Texas (March 25, 2023) – Lubbock Christian University's women's tennis program claimed their first Lone Star Conference duals win in program history Saturday with a 5-2 road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville at Javelina Tennis Courts.
The duals opening point came down to the No.3 doubles match after
Anastasiia Khrustaleva and
Anastasiia Opolska teamed together to claim the No.2 doubles match for LCU, which was followed by TAMUK claiming the No.1 doubles match. LCU's
Oshini Herath and
Taylor Nichols served as the No.3 doubles team and their match to claim the doubles point went the distance, with LCU claiming a 7-3 tiebreak advantage for the 7-6 set win to claim the match and the point heading into singles play.
The Javelinas won the No.4 singles match to claim the first singles point, which tied the dual 1-1, but then LCU responded with
Axelle Jacquemin (No.3), Opolska (No.6) and
Maya Adler (No.5) winning their matches to clinch the dual with a 4-1 lead. Singles played out with
Michelle Trochez also winning her No.2 singles match for the Lady Chaparrals.
Trochez claimed her 11
th win of the season (11-8) and she is the first Lady Chaps member to claim 10 wins in dual singles matches (10-4). Opolska's victory in singles play marked her fifth consecutive win and she is 7-2 in dual singles (and overall). She is also 2-0 in LSC matches.
The Lady Chaps are now 10-6 overall on the season and 1-2 in conference play. They return home Tuesday to host Midwestern State at noon at Penny Gullo Tennis Complex. The LSC dual match is their "Team Luke" match presented by the LCU SAAC.
