Three extra-base hits in the top of the first inning set the offensive tone for LCU. Included in the mix was a two-run home run by
Kasey Flores to put LCU up 3-0.
How it Happened:
In the first inning, LCU had three consecutive hits for extra bases, beginning with a one-out triple by
Tiarra Delrosario. She scored on a double by
Hope Banales, who scored on
Kasey Flores' two-run home run for a 3-0 lead.
They made it 6-0 with another three-run frame in the second inning.
Berkeley Quinn singled in
Riley Flores to open the frame's scoring. A stolen base by Quinn led to
Kamryn Gibbs scoring on an error and Quinn scored on a sacrifice fly by Delrosario.
Skylar Herrera made it 7-0 with a solo home run in the third inning. A bases-loaded walk put UTPB on the scoreboard for the first time in the series in the third inning, but it was UTPB's lone run of the inning. Banales and
Ally Oyanguren each had a RBI in the fourth inning before LCU scored their final run in the fifth inning with Berkeley scoring on a passed ball. A leadoff error in the home half of the fifth inning led to UTPB closing the scoring with a solo run in the fifth inning.
