Acosta, Ogilvie Named to ABCA All-Region First Team

Second All-Region Honor for both Chaps

GREENSBORO, N. C. (March 31, 2023) - The 2023 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. II All-Region Teams were announced on Wednesday, with Lubbock Christian University players Eduardo Acosta and Carson Ogilvie both recognized on the All-South Central Region First Team. 

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America Committee.First Team All-Region selections are eligible for All-America honors, which will be announce on June 2. 

It is the second All-Region First Team honor for both Acosta and Ogilvie, who were also recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA). Both players were also recognized on the All-Lone Star Conference First Team. 

Acosta led the Chaps in batting average in his third and final season, hitting .434 for the year and reaching base at a .509 clip. He clubbed 15 doubles, three triples and nine home runs for a .652 slugging percentage. He drove in 68 runs and scored another 68 himself. Twice this season he was named the Hitter of the Week in both the LSC and the South Central region (by the NCBWA). 

Ogilvie was the team's leader in total bases, collecting 163 for the year. He hit .404 and was not far behind Acosta with a .502 on-base percentage. Exactly half of his 92 hits went for extra bases, with 29 doubles, nine triples and nine home runs. Two different times this season, he hit for the cycle. The Chap shortstop was also the team leader in stolen bases with 15. He was named the NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the week on May 10. 

Lubbock Christian finished the 2023 season with a 35-23 overall record. They finished fourth in the Lone Star Conference and were the No. 6 seed at the NCAA South Central Regional, their fourth appearance in the tournament in program history.
