PORTALES, N.M. - The Lubbock Christian University Men's basketball team dropped their second Lone Star Conference game of the season Thursday night, falling 80-72 to Eastern New Mexico. 

Najeeb Muhammad lead the Chaps with a career high 26 points going 9-of-14 from the field. Tiras Morton helped out with his eighth double double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Aaron Gonzales chipped in with 12 points.

The Chaps shot 24-of-69 (34.8 percent) from the field and 7-of-25 (28 percent) from three in the loss. The LCU defense held the high powered ENMU offense to 42.9 percent shooting. 

How It Happened

Lubbock Christian struggled out of the gate, falling behind 39-25 heading into halftime.

Lubbock Christian narrowed its deficit to 44-34 before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Gonzales' layup, to shrink the deficit to 44-42 with 13:50 to go in the contest. Eastern New Mexico responded and outscored the Chaparrals the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 80-72. Lubbock Christian got out on the break in the period, scoring 14 fast break points.

Game Notes

» The Chaps shared the ball well, recording an assist on 62 percent of made field goals.
» LCU was active in affecting shots on the defensive end, recording six blocks as a team.
» The Chaps cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 13 offensive boards in the game.
» Lubbock Christian got a game-high 10 rebounds from Tiras Morton.
