DALLAS, Texas (October 26, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University and Dallas Baptist played to a scoreless draw in a nonconference meeting in Lubbock on September 25, but things between the two programs will intensify Saturday evening in Dallas, as the two clubs meet in a Lone Star Conference matchup at Patriot Soccer Field.

Lubbock Christian comes into the match with a 5-5-4 overall record and 2-3-2 record in Lone Star Conference play. In their last match, Lubbock Christian fell 1-0 to rival West Texas A&M in their Rivalry on the Range matchup. The Chaparrals have been dynamic on the road this season, holding a 3-2-1 record. Also, they are currently on a two-game road winning streak.

The Patriots enter Saturday's match holding a 4-3-6 overall and 3-1-2 conference record. On Wednesday, Dallas Baptist defeated Eastern New Mexico 1-0 on the road in Portales. Dallas Baptist has struggled at home this season, going 1-1-3 in matches in Dallas. Their last home win came on October 19, as they beat West Texas A&M 2-1.

Since 2013, Lubbock Christian and Dallas Baptist have met annually, for a total of 13 matches in the all-time series. Currently, the Chaparrals hold the 8-3-2 advantage over the Patriots. In the last match in Dallas, the result was a 0-0 tie on September 27, 2023. Throughout the last three matches, there have been two ties.

The Chaparrals continue to be led offensively by Justin Martinez. The freshman has recorded five goals on the year, which leads the team and he has two assists on the season. These combined give him a total of 12 points, which slots him tenth in the Lone Star in points. In front of the net, Lubbock Christian has one of the elite goalkeepers in the conference, Connor Pettigrew. Pettigrew ranks sixth in goals against average (1.571), second in shutouts per game (5), seventh in save percentage (72.8%), first in total saves (59) and third in saves per game (4.21).

Dallas Baptist is led by standout Peyton Voelker, who ranks sixth in the Lone Star with five goals scored. Gavyn Rosales follows closely behind with four scored this season. In addition, Hunter Dierlam is having a solid season with three goals and three assists. Defensively, the Patriots are led by goalkeeper Patrick Banich. Banich ranks eighth in goals against average (1.778), ninth in shutouts (1), tenth in saves (24) and eighth in saves per game (2.67).
