Chaps Defeated by Midwestern State 2-0 in Wichita Falls

LCU's Three Game Road Unbeaten Streak Snapped

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (October 30, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University struggled to find offensive rhythm against a relentless Midwestern State attack, falling 2-0 to the Mustangs Wednesday night at Stang Park. MSU's Mere Escobar led the charge, scoring both goals to end LCU's three-match road unbeaten streak.

The loss drops Lubbock Christian to 5-6-5 overall and 2-4-3 in conference play. Midwestern State improved to 10-2-3 on the season and 5-2-1 in the Lone Star Conference.

How it Happened

Midwestern State controlled possession and applied constant pressure, outshooting LCU 23-4. Despite the offensive onslaught, LCU's defense worked to keep the Mustangs at bay, with goalkeeper Connor Pettigrew registering three saves to prevent further damage. Escobar opened the scoring in the 28th minute, assisted by Johan Juarez, and later doubled MSU's lead in the 76th minute to seal the result.

LCU's limited offensive chances were well-defended by MSU's backline, with the Chaps managing only two shots on target from Yannis Sapim and Francisco Horta. Both attempts were saved by MSU goalkeeper Daniel Robles, keeping LCU off the board.
