Chaps Travel to the Alamo City to take on St. Mary's Saturday Afternoon

LUBBOCK, Texas –  After suffering consecutive losses for only the second time this season, the Lubbock Christian University Men's Basketball team looks to get back in the win column as they take on St. Mary's Saturday afternoon.

The Series
Saturday will be the 15th matchup all-time between LCU and StMU. The Chaps have dominated the series going 11-3. LCU has won nine of the previous 10 games against the Rattlers. Including a 77-69 victory last season. The Chaps are 4-2 all-time on the road against StMU.

 About St. Mary's
  • The Rattlers are in their 1st season with Head Coach Bubba Meyer at the helm.
  • StMU comes into Saturday with a 11-14 overall record and are 7-12 in LSC play.
  • The Rattlers sit in fifth place in the LSC East Division.
  • StMU is led by Davion Coleman who averages 14.0 points and 3.6 rebounds a night.
  • The Rattlers score 81.5 points per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from behind the arc.
Last Time Out – LCU
Despite Tiras Morton's 21 and Najeeb Muhammad's 20 point performances, LCU fell to St. Edward's 91-84 on the road Thursday night. 
 
The Chaparrals had four players score in double figures, led by Morton, who had 21 points and six rebounds. Muhammad added 20 points and four assists and Aaron Gonzales helped out with 13 points.

The Lubbock Christian offense was very productive from beyond the arc, making 12 threes on 17 attempts. Morton was the most prolific shooter for the Chaparrals, draining four treys in the contest.

Last Time Out – StMU
St. Mary's kept within striking distance of top-ranked West Texas A&M throughout the three-quarters of the game until the Buffaloes went on an 11-0 run midway through the second half for the 88-63 victory.
 
Four Rattlers scored in double figures, led by senior Tyler Caron with 14. Before the game, Caron was presented with a commemorative basketball for scoring the 1,000th point of his career at DBU on Feb. 10. Caron also moved into the top-20 in St. Mary's career scoring with 1,045, passing Adrian Wright (1988-91) who scored 1,036 in his career.
 
Senior Lachlan Bofinger scored 11 points and brought down a game-high 12 rebounds. He also blocked a pair of shots. Senior Keith Dinwiddie scored 11 and junior Franklin Agu scored 10 and collected seven boards.

A Win Would
  • Give the Chaps a 20-8 overall record and 15-5 in the Lone Star Conference.
  • Move LCU's road record to 7-3.
  • Be the 241st win of the Coach Duncan era.
