LCU at the Lone Star Conference Tournament
The Chaps have made the LSC Tournament every season since joining the league in 2019-20. LCU has gone 5-4 in their tournament games and are making their championship round debut The Chaps opened this season's tournament with a 80-67 win over St. Edward's, advancing to the semi-finals where they escaped with a 50-48 win over Texas A&M-International.
The Series
Sunday will be the 69
th matchup all-time between LCU and ENMU. The Chaps have controlled the series, going 37-31 against the Greyhounds. ENMU topped LCU in both meetings this season, winning 80-72 in Portales (Jan. 18) and 88-84 (Feb. 17) in Lubbock. The two have never squared off in the LSC Tournament.
About Eastern New Mexico
- The Greyhounds are in their 4th season with Head Coach Brent Owen at the helm.
- ENMU comes into Saturday with an 21-9 overall record and are the fourth seed in the LSC tournament after finishing 15-7 in league play.
- The Greyhounds are led by Jahcoree Ealy who averages an impressive 20.7 points and 4.3 rebounds a night.
- ENMU scored 90.4 points per game while shooting 50.2 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from behind the arc.
Last Time Out – LCU
Ethan Duncan knocked down a 3-pointer with 18 seconds remaining to put LCU ahead for good in a 50-48 victory against Texas A&M International at Comerica Center Saturday.
The Chaps had three players score in double figures, led by
Kurt Wegscheider, who had 13 points, six rebounds and two steals. Duncan tacked on 12 points and two steals and
Tiras Morton helped out with a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Lubbock Christian's defense held Texas A&M International to only 33.3 percent shooting from the field, including 22.2 percent from beyond the arc in the win.
Last Time Out – ENMU
For just the second time in program history, Eastern New Mexico advances to the Lone Star Conference title game after winning, 91-81, versus Cameron in Saturday's semifinal.
Senior
Jahcoree Ealy led the team with 23 points on just 9-of-12 shooting. The second team all-LSC honoree added six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. The Conway, Arkansas native made a strong effort in the paint as he drew six fouls on the afternoon without committing a single foul.
First team all-LSC recognizee
Greg Johnson contributed a strong 26 minutes on the floor as he added 14 points, including the Hounds only three-pointer of the game. Despite Johnson fouling out, Eastern New Mexico found a way to win the game.
A Win Would
- Give the Chaps a 24-9 overall record and would be LCU's 18th win over LSC opponents this season.
- Be the 245th win of the Coach Duncan era.
- Give LCU its first Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship title in program history.
