And Another One... Fourth Straight 4-3 Win Against a Division II Opponent For LCU

Lady Chaps Remain Perfect (11-0), as They Rally Once Again

DALLAS, Texas (March 2, 2024) – For a fourth consecutive time when facing a Division II opponent, Lubbock Christian University is able to rally and claim a 4-3 win. This time Southeastern Oklahoma State was the victim, as the neutral site win at Bent Tree Country Club Tennis Center moved LCU to 11-0 on the season.

LCU opened with momentum after taking the doubles point. LCU's doubles teams of Anastasiia Opolska / Oshini Herath (No.1-doubles) and Axelle Jacquemin / Anastasiia Khrustaleva (No.2-doubles) claimed wins for the 1-0 lead (No.3-doubles match went unfinished).

The Lady Chaps jumped out to a 2-0 lead after Jacquemin was the first to wrap up, winning No.3-singles. SEOSU bounced back to tie the dual twice, as they first tied the dual at 2-2 with a pair of singles wins. No.42 Andrea De Bernardo dropped the opening set in No.1-singles, but rallied to win the second and third set (both 6-4 results) to put LCU back on top 3-2. SEOSU won the No.4-singles match to tie the dual at 3-3, which put all eyes on No.6 singles. Opolska won the first two sets with 6-4 results to clinch the match and the dual for LCU.

The result (4-3) marked the fourth consecutive 4-3 win by the Lady Chaps in duals against Division II opponents. De Bernardo has had the three-set victories and Opolska has won the clinching match in consecutive dual wins. They each co-lead LCU with 14 singles wins (8-1 in duals) and Opolska has won three consecutive singles matches.

The win kept LCU perfect (11-0) and SEOSU drops to 5-3 on the season. LCU heads to Florida next week for Spring Break matches, which gets underway Mar. 10 in Orlando, Fla. against Rockhurst.
