Duran Tosses Complete Game in Series Clinching 14-1 Victory Over St. Edward's

LUBBOCK, Texas - Junior right-hander Andrew Duran tossed a complete game as the 10th ranked Lubbock Christian Chaparrals topped St. Edward's 14-1 at home Sunday afternoon.

Duran went seven innings, giving up one run on four hits, allowing four walks and striking out five to pick up his sixth win of the season. This was Duran's first complete game of the season.

Senior Carson Ogilvie led the way at the dish for LCU, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs. Senior Chris Shull put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, a walk and five RBI. Both Ogilvie and Shull were a triple away from hitting for the cycle.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Chaps started the game with an offensive explosion, hitting three homers in the bottom of the first inning. Ogilvie led-off the ball game with a blast to center field, his 11th home run of the season. Later in the inning, Brevin McCool hit a three-run homer to add on to the early lead. Chris Shull hit a two-run round tripper to put an exclamation point on the first inning, giving LCU a 6-0 lead.

The Hilltoppers added a run, narrowing the lead to 6-1 until the Chaps expanded their advantage in the second. Shull's bases-clearing double was the offense in a three-run inning for LCU, which brought the Chaparrals lead to 9-1.

LCU kept St. Edward's without a run before building their lead to 12-1 in the fourth inning. The Chaps picked up three runs in the frame, two of them coming across on a two-run single off the bat of senior Jaxson Edwards.

LCU held the Hilltoppers scoreless before building on their lead in the sixth inning. The Chaps pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Ogilvie that scored Shull and Edwards, bringing the score to 14-1 in favor of LCU. Duran retired the Hilltoppers in order as the Chaps coasted to a seven inning run-rule victory.
