PUEBLO, Colo. (September 16, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University's women's tennis team opened their dual schedule of the 2024-25 season with three impressive victories at the Pueblo Duals held at Pueblo City Park September 13-14.
Match 1: Lubbock Christian 6, Colorado State Pueblo 1

In their opening match of the duals, Lubbock Christian defeated Colorado State Pueblo 6-1. The Lady Chaps dominated the doubles competition with
Andrea De Bernardo and
Anastasiia Opolska (No.1-doubles),
Mariia Koroleva and
AnaMaria Zoric (No.2-doubles), and
Lauren Shinneman and
Allison Lent (No.3-doubles) each securing victories to sweep doubles. In singles, De Bernardo (No.1-singles), Koroleva (No.2-singles),
Oshini Herath (No.3-singles),
Maya Adler (No.4-singles), and Zoric (No.3-singles) delivered strong performances to clinch their matches. Although
Maizy Adams fell in a close contest at No. 6 singles, the team's overall performance established a solid foundation for the duals.
Match 2: Lubbock Christian 7, Colorado Mesa 0

Later the same day, Lubbock Christian continued their winning streak with a decisive 7-0 victory over Colorado Mesa for their 10
th shutout in program history. The Lady Chaps excelled in doubles play, with Zoric and Koroleva winning convincingly with a 6-0 win in No.3-doubles.
Andrea De Bernardo and Axele Jacquemin (No.1-doubles) claimed the doubles point for LCU with a 6-3 win. In singles, De Bernardo, Koroleva, Herath, Adler, Opolska, and Zoric (in singles order) all delivered commanding performances. Koroleva's three-set victory and Zoric's dominant play at No. 6-singles (won the opening set 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker) contributed to the comprehensive win.
Match 3: Lubbock Christian 5, MSU Denver 2

Saturday, Lubbock Christian faced Metropolitan State of Denver and emerged with a 5-2 victory. The Lady Chaps' doubles teams shined with De Bernardo and
Axelle Jacquemin (No.1-doubles), and Koroleva and Zoric (No.3-doubles) securing key wins. Lubbock Christian's singles lineup remained strong. De Bernardo (No.1-singles) and Jacquemin (No.2-singles) won their matches in straight sets. Opolska clinched the dual in No.5-singles with a 6-0,6-0 convincing win. No.6-singles was also claimed by LCU, as Zoric won 6-1, 6-2.
LCU's Lady Chaps went 15-3 in singles play and 7-2 in doubles for the weekend.
Andrea De Bernardo's performance across the three matches was a standout performance. She went undefeated in both singles and doubles play throughout the Pueblo Duals, winning all three of her singles matches in straight sets. Her dominance at the No. 1 singles spot, particularly a 6-0, 6-1 win against Colorado State Pueblo, underscored her role as a pivotal player in Lubbock Christian's success during the duals. Zoric was not too far off in her importance, as she was 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles play.
LCU concludes the Pueblo Duals with a 3-0 record on the season and will look to build on their success in the spring, as the dual matches were LCU's only dual matches of the fall.
