LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team continues their Idaho trip with a match against Northwest Nazarene on Saturday night.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. from the NNU Soccer & Lax Field and will be streamed live on the NNU YouTube page.

Notes:
  • The Chaps are off to a 2-2-1 start in 2024 following a 1-0 win over Hawaii Pacific in Nampa on Thursday. Yannis Sapim scored off a Nako Amare assist to lead LCU to the win.
  • Senior Connor Pettigrew has started every game in goal for the Chaps, tallying 22 total saves and three shutouts. He leads the Lone Star Conference in both categories.
  • Amare is leading the LCU offensive attack with three total points in 2024.
  • Four different Chaps have recorded goals in 2024, as Amare, Sapim, Geoffroy Letienne, and Saimon Gjeci have found the back of the net.
  • LCU is coming off a 6-4-7 season in 2023, the most draws in a season in LCU program history.
  • The Chaps were picked to finish sixth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll.
  • Saturday will be the second meeting all-time between the Chaps and Nighthawks. The first matchup was a 1-0 LCU victory at home last season.

Scouting Northwest Nazarene:
  • The Nighthawks have struggled out of the gate in 2024, coming into Saturday with a 1-3-1 overall record. They topped fellow LSC member West Texas A&M 2-1 on Thursday to pick up their first win of the season.
  • The Nighthawks have been outscored 11-4 through five games.
  • NNU has been led offensively by Jonathan Cardona. The senior has scored two of the Nighthawks four goals.
  • Alex Barragan and Caleb Putney have scored the other two goals for NNU.
  • Goalkeeper Gerardo Fonte has started every game this season for NNU, tallying 18 saves on 68 shots faced.
  • The Nighthawks finished the 2023 season with a 5-7-6 record and did not qualify for the GNAC Conference tournament.
  • NNU is coached by James Williamson who enters his 2nd season at the helm.

A Win Would:
  • Move LCU's record to 3-2-1 on the season.
  • Be the 16th win of the Coach Cone era.
  • Give the Chaps their 117th win in program history.
