STEPHENVILLE, Texas (January 26, 2025) – The Lubbock Christian University women's tennis team opened its spring schedule with a trio of exhibition matches at the Tarleton Tennis Facility over the weekend. The Lady Chaps earned a dominant 7-0 sweep over Collin College but fell to NCAA Division I programs New Mexico State (4-3) and host Tarleton State (6-1) in their other contests.
 
Friday, LCU began the day against New Mexico State, dropping the match 4-3 in a competitive dual. Standout performances came in singles play, where Anastasiia Opolska rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, [10-8] win at No. 2, and Maya Adler secured a 3-6, 6-2, [10-1] victory at No. 5. Axelle Jacquemin also delivered a straight-sets win, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 3 singles. Despite strong efforts, New Mexico State claimed the doubles point and edged out the Lady Chaps in the final tally.
 
LCU rebounded later in the day with a commanding 7-0 win over Collin College. The Lady Chaps dominated across the board, winning five of six singles matches in straight sets. Andrea De Bernardo (No. 1) and Opolska (No. 2) led the charge with decisive victories in both singles and doubles. The pairings of De Bernardo and Jacquemin (6-2) and Opolska and AnaMaria Zoric (6-1) helped clinch the doubles point early in the match.
 
Saturday's matchup against host Tarleton State saw LCU face a tough challenge, falling 6-1. Oshini Herath provided the lone point for the Lady Chaps, rallying at No. 5 singles for a 6-4, 2-6, [10-7] win. The Texans swept doubles and secured five straight-set wins in singles to close out the weekend.
 
The Lady Chaps take a brief break until returning to regular season play Friday, Feb. 7 in Kearney, Neb. facing Concordia (Neb.). LCU, receiving votes in the national top-25 polls, takes a 3-0 record into the spring regular season.
