WICHITA FALLS, Texas (November 15, 2025) — Lubbock Christian fell to Midwestern State 1-0 on Saturday at Stang Park in the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship.
LCU allowed just one goal in the first half and limited MSU to only five shots on goal, but the Chaps could not find the back of the net, with all five of their shots on goal stopped by the opposing goalkeeper.
Lubbock Christian finishes the season with a record of 8-8-4 and 5-3-3 in conference play.
Connor Pettigrew recorded four saves in the match, with all of them coming in the second half.
Francisco Horta registered one shot on goal, contributing to the team's offensive efforts.
Manu Nunez managed two shots, with one being on target.
Kade McKinzie also made an impact with a shot on goal during the game.
The first half began with Lubbock Christian showing early offensive intent. In the sixth minute, Nunez ahd a great chance with a shot that was saved by Midwestern State's Jake Morris, and McKinzie followed up with another attempt that was also stopped by Morris. Despite their efforts, the Chaps could not capitalize on their chances.
Midwestern State shifted momentum midway through the half, breaking the deadlock at the 32nd minute with a goal from Liam Kervick, assisted by Jarrod McKechnie. The half closed with Midwestern State maintaining their 1-0 lead.
The second half began with a continued defensive effort by the Chaps, as Pettigrew recorded multiple key saves, notably stopping shots from Parker Plaxco and Liam Pritchard. Midwestern State applied pressure, but Pettigrew's performance in goal kept Lubbock Christian in contention.
Despite a few attempts to generate offensive opportunities, including a shot by Horta saved by Jake Morris, the Chaparrals were unable to alter the scoreline. The half concluded with both teams unable to convert, and Chaparrals trailing 1-0 at the final whistle.
