Five Chaps Reach Double-Figures in Saturday Win

LCU Notches Seventh Straight Win

ALPINE, Texas (February 8, 2025) - Five Chaparrals scored in double digits and Lubbock Christian held their third opponent in the last four games to less than 60 points as they beat Sul Ross 82-59 at the Gallego Center.

The Chaparrals (18-6, 13-3) got 16 points apiece from Sean Murphy and Ethan Duncan while Amondo Miller Jr. scored 15. Najeeb Muhammad scored 10 and Kendall Dow added 10 off the bench.

Lubbock Christian out-rebounded Sul Ross State 33-29 in Saturday's game, paced by Murphy's nine boards.

Lubbock Christian's defense held Sul Ross State to only 34 percent shooting from the field. The Lobos did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with three offensive rebounds and managed three second chance points while Lubbock Christian cleared 28 defensive rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Chaps went on top early but could not pull away from the Lobos. After falling behind 27-26, Lubbock Christian went on a 6-0 run with 4:29 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Murphy, to take a 32-27 lead.

The Chaparrals then added three points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 40-32 advantage.

Following intermission, Lubbock Christian kept widening that lead, expanding it to 65-48 before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 72-48 with 7:42 to go in the contest.

The Lobos narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Chaparrals still cruised the rest of the way for the 82-59 win.
