HOW IT HAPPENED
Lubbock Christian threatened in the top of the first, but had a run cut down at the plate. TAMIU immediately took the lead, scoring a pair in the bottom of the frame. The scored two more in both the second and third to build an early 6-0 lead.
Â
The Chaps finally got on the board in the top of the fourth on Blackwell's second homer of the season, which was a solo shot, but the Dustdevils answered right back with four more in the bottom of the inning.
Â
Baumbach's homer led off the fifth, and Tijerina scored on a wild pitch after he hit a single and Johnny Gomez III doubled. Again, Texas A&M International answered, putting up another four-spot in the bottom of the inning.
Â
The three-run shot from Tijerina came in the sixth as the Chaps plated five total. They were threatening for more with a runner at third and one out, but Kade York lined out and the runner was doubled off.
Â
