Lady Chaps Serve Up Dominant Win Over Cameron To Complete Opening LSC Weekend

No. 20 LCU Rolls Past Cameron, Secures First-Ever Win Over Aggies

LUBBOCK, Texas (March 29. 2025) – No. 20 Lubbock Christian University closed out its opening weekend of Lone Star Conference play with a commanding 6-1 victory over Cameron Saturday morning at Penny Gullo Tennis Center. The Lady Chaps (11-4, 1-1 LSC) rebounded from Friday's narrow loss with a dominant performance, securing the doubles point and winning five of six singles matches.

LCU took control early in doubles play, clinching the opening point with a pair of decisive wins. The No. 3 doubles tandem of Oshini Herath and Hannah Quick picked up a default victory to put LCU in the driver's seat. The Aggies (3-7, 0-3 LSC) responded at No. 1 doubles, where Martyna Jankowska and Jenna Goessel handed Axelle Jacquemin and Andrea De Bernardo a 6-2 defeat. However, the Lady Chaps secured the doubles point on Court 2, where Anastasiia Opolska and AnaMaria Zoric cruised past Alexsa Paucar and Mara Vidal, 6-2.

With a 1-0 lead heading into singles, LCU quickly built momentum with another forfeit win at No. 6 singles, where Alexandra Luders collected a victory by default. The first contested singles result came at No. 4, as Zoric powered past Paucar, 6-1, 6-1, extending the Lady Chaps' lead to 3-0. Moments later, Herath delivered the clincher at No. 5 singles, dismantling Vidal in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, to secure the dual victory for LCU.

The Lady Chaps continued their dominant run with a win at No. 3 singles, where Maya Adler breezed past Anna Deuringer, 6-1, 6-0. The Aggies finally got on the board with a hard-fought battle at No. 2 singles, as Goessel outlasted De Bernardo, 6-4, 6-4, to claim Cameron's lone point. In the final match of the day, a three-set thriller at No. 1 singles, Opolska completed a dramatic comeback over Jankowska, rallying from a set down to prevail 1-6, 7-5, 10-5.

With dominant performances in singles and doubles, Herath, Zoric, and Opolska emerged as standout players for LCU, each securing wins in both disciplines. Herath is on a four-match win streak in singles and is 6-0 in duals play (9-2 overall on the season in singles). Zoric (14-3) and Opolska (14-5) each claimed their 14th win of the season in singles to tie De Bernardo for second on the squad (Mariia Koroleva leads with 15).

LCU topped Cameron for the first time in program history, improving to 3-1 all-time against the Aggies. The Lady Chaps will look to build on the victory when they return to action Thursday morning at 10 a.m., hosting St. Mary's in another LSC showdown.
