Chaps Looking to Bounce Back

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 5, 2025) – It wasn't the start to the season they wanted, and the Lubbock Christian men's soccer team will need a short memory as they try and take down Adams State on Saturday. LCU second chance to get a win in the Centennial State before they come home kicks off at Noon CT.
 
CHAPARRAL NEWS AND NOTES
  • A whopping five different players spent all 90 minutes on the field for Lubbock Christian during their season-opener against Fort Lewis. The group including Joao Catafesta, Adam Davison, Carlos Kramer Silva, Geoffroy Letienne, Andrea Monticelli.
  • Connor Pettigrew also played all 90 minutes in goal, marking the 18th straight game he has played the entire game. He played every minute in goal during the 2024 season.
  • Lubbock Christian has played seven games against Adams State in program history, winning every time. Last time the Chaps were in Alamosa, they earned a 1-0 decision behind a goal from Lucas Carli and a pair of saves from Pettigrew.
  • LCU has played 17 games all-time in the state of Colorado and is 7-10 in those contests.
  • Pedro Lucas scored for the Chaps in their season-opener against Fort Lewis, converting a penalty kick in the 23rd minute. It was his first goal in a Chaparral uniform.
SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
  • Saturday will be the season-opener for Adams State, who finished the 22024 season 2-12-2 overall and 0-9-1 in Rocky Mountain Conference play
  • The Grizzlies were picked to finish 11th in the 2025 RMAC Preseason Poll
  • Adams State alumnus Peter Freeman was named the head coach of the program on Feb. 21, 2025. He spent the last six seasons coaching at Trinidad State, coaching both the men's and women's teams
  • ASU averaged 0.81 goals per game last season. Avey Richards (2) was the only Grizzly to score multiple goals on the year
  • The two Adams State last season came against Oklahoma Panhandle State and South Dakota School of Mines
