LUBBOCK, Texas (January 22, 2026) - Due to severe winter weather forecasted across North Texas, Lubbock Christian University has announced schedule changes affecting its men's and women's basketball programs for Saturday, Jan. 24.
The Lone Star Conference games scheduled for Saturday between the LCU women's basketball team at Texas Woman's University in Denton and the LCU men's basketball team at Dallas Baptist University in Dallas have been postponed. Both contests will be rescheduled at a later date pending Lone Star Conference approval.
The postponements come as the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for North Texas from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, with forecasts calling for significant ice accumulation, sleet, snow, hazardous travel conditions and the potential for power outages across the region.
LCU's games scheduled for Thursday (Jan. 22) remain on schedule. The Lady Chaparrals will face UT Tyler at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Chaparrals taking on UT Tyler at 7:30 p.m., with both games set to be played at the Louise Herrington Patriot Center in Tyler, Texas.
Following the completion of Thursday's Lone Star Conference games, both LCU teams will return to Lubbock as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of student-athletes and staff ahead of the anticipated winter weather impacting North Texas.
LCU will next return to action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when both basketball programs host Cameron University at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock. The women's game is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by the men's game at 3 p.m.
Updates regarding the rescheduled dates for the postponed Jan. 24 contests will be announced once finalized in coordination with the Lone Star Conference.
