Chaps Beat Buffs 3-1

Militao's Brace Lead LCU Back to Win Column

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 14, 2026) — Lubbock Christian defeated West Texas A&M 3-1 on Wednesday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. The Chaps put nine of their 15 shots on goal and scored twice in the second half while holding the Buffs to just four shots on frame.

The Chaps improved to 6-7-1 overall and 3-4-0 in conference play. West Texas A&M is 4-7-3 overall and 1-2-3 in conference play.

Milo Paci kept the match scoreless early with a save on WT's shot in the fifth minute after the visitors created the first chances. Augusto Militao responded by putting LCU on top with a goal in the 13th minute. The senior received a pass from Alex Lachevre outside the box, firing on frame and finding the back of the net when the shot was bobbled by the Buff keeper.

The Chaps pushed for another goal later in the half, with Lachevre missing high in the 23rd minute and forcing a save in the 28th. The Buffs applied pressure from the 33rd minute on with multiple shots and corner kicks, but Lubbock Christian held firm, including another Paci save at 43:38, and carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.

LCU tripled their score in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Militao found the back of the net again in the 53rd minute. Austin Randriamahefa intercepted a pass at midfield and played the ball forward to Militao, who shot from far out to catch the keeper off guard. Then just three minutes later, Lachevre scored off an assist from Joao Catafesta.

The Chaps continued to create chances with shots from Lachevre and Randriamahefa before West Texas A&M cut the margin to 3-1 on Jonathan Atzmon's goal in the 70th minute. The half included several cards and fouls, but the Chaps kept pressing late, taking five shots and two corner kicks from the 80th through 86th minutes, including saved attempts by Oliver Robinson and Jack Brassey. The Chaps finished the match with another saved shot in the final minute to close out the 3-1 win.
