OKLAHOMA CITY (February 12, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University split the doubleheader to open this weekend's series against Oklahoma Christian, falling 11-5 in the opener and winning 9-7 in the second game.
Â
The Chaps are now 3-5 on the season, while the Eagles are 2-6.
Â
GAME ONE
The Chaps fell to OC 11-5 in the first game after OC took an early lead in the first inning with two runs. The home team extended its advantage in the second when Elijah Laus hit a two-run homer to make it 5-0 and chase the LCU starting pitcher from the game.
Â
The Chaps responded in the third inning with a three-run frame.
Tanner Pachorek started the inning with a double, and
Dylan Marx followed with a single to drive him in. After yet another single from
Kyle Lewis and a sacrifice bunt,
Joe Mancinas drove in the runners with a base hit.
Â
In the fourth inning, the Chaps added another run as
Aaron Morales scored on a sacrifice fly by Marx.
Â
However, OC pulled away in the fifth and sixth innings, scoring three runs in each. Trey Migl's solo homer in the fifth and a three-run home run by Ruben Castro in the sixth extended the lead to 11-4 after six innings.
Â
The Chaparrals managed one more run in the sixth inning on Pachorek's sacrifice fly, but OC's offense proved too strong in the Eagle win.
Â
GAME TWO
Lubbock Christian bounced back with a 9-7 victory over Oklahoma Christian in the second game, highlighted by a strong offensive performance and a solid first start of the season for
Aaron Rubio.
Â
Rubio allowed a single run in the first but worked a scoreless second to keep the Chaps within a run.
Aaron Morales initiated the Chap scoring in the thirdwith a two-run homer to right field, bringing in Mancinas. Shortly after,
Johnny Gomez III doubled, setting up
Ryan Gargett's two-run homer to deep center field. This offensive burst gave the Chaps a 4-1 lead, which they would not relinquish the rest of the game.
Â
In the fourth inning, the Chaparrals added two more runs.
Kyle Lewis scored on a throwing error, and
Hudson Grace crossed home plate following a bases-loaded walk to Gomez III.
Â
LCU added a pair of runs again in the top of the fifth.
Roe Forrest led off the inning with his first hit of the season, which left the yard for a solo home run. Lewis added a two-out double, and Mancinas drove him in with a double of his own. The Eagles responded with three two-out runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, trailing 8-4 headed to the sixth.
Â
One more Chap run came across in the sixth on a wild pitch, after Gargett hit a one-out double. The Eagles went through the sixth scoreless, thanks to
Andrew Dalconzo, who entered on the mound in the inning.
Â
Oklahoma Christian got to Dalconzo in the seventh though, scoring three runs with two outs on a bases-loaded triple, but a foul out ended the game and secured the win.
