OKLAHOMA CITY (February 14, 2026) —
Karson Dunn pitched seven shutout innings and Lubbock Christian University scored in five different innings as the Chaps secured a 10-0 run-rule victory over Oklahoma Christian University on Saturday at Dobson Baseball Field.
The Chaparrals capitalized on three home runs and a triple among their 10 hits, while Dunn and
Anthony Graziano allowed just three Eagle hits on the mound. The team's offensive surge included a four-run eighth inning to seal the win.
Lubbock Christian has a record of 4-6 and is tied for eighth in the Lone Star Conference standings. The Eagles have a record of 3-7 and hold the eleventh position in the Lone Star Conference standings.
The Chaps took an early lead in the first inning when
Kyle Lewis walked, advanced to second on a steal, and scored on an RBI single by
Aaron Morales. After a scoreless second inning,
Hudson Grace extended the lead in the third with a two-run homer to left center, bringing
Dylan Marx across the plate for a 3-0 advantage.
In the fourth inning,
Johnny Gomez III drew a walk and advanced to third on
Jorge De Los Santos's single.
Roe Forrest then delivered a two-run homer to deep center field, stretching the lead to 5-0. Grace contributed further with his second homer of the game, this time to straightaway center, making it 6-0 after the inning.
Lubbock Christian's offense exploded in the eighth inning. Morales and a pinch runner,
Owen Alsup, both scored on Forrest's three-RBI triple to right field, and Forrest later scored on an RBI single by Marx. This offensive burst increased the lead to 10-0.
Karson Dunn delivered a commanding performance, pitching seven innings without allowing a run and giving up only three hits. He struck out two batters and issued three walks over 91 pitches, with 55 of those being strikes. Dunn also managed to pick off a runner and induced 12 groundouts. In his seven innings on the mound, no OC batter advanced past second base.
Anthony Graziano closed out the game with a scoreless inning of relief, not surrendering any hits or runs and recording one strikeout.
GAME NOTES:
- The shutout was the first for the Chaps this season and the first since 4/18/25 against Cameron. They had three shutouts total in the 2025 season.
- With seven shutout innings, Dunn lowered his season ERA to just 1.00. It is the lowest ERA in the conference among hurlers with more than 10 innings pitched.
- Forrest's five RBI are the most in a game by an LCU hitter since
Brevin McCool had nine against Cameron on April 17, 2025.
- Dunn and
Anthony Graziano did not allow a hit from the Eagles with runners on base (0-for-10).
- Grace's two-homer game was the first this season by an LCU player. The last came from
Brevin McCool on April 18, 2025 against Cameron.
