Chaps Drop Finale in Kingsville

Forrest Homers Twice in Loss

KINGSVILLE, Texas (March 22, 2026) — Lubbock Christian University fell to Texas A&M-Kingsville 14-8 on Sunday at Nolan Ryan Field, dropping the series three games to one.

Despite the loss, the Chaparrals' offense managed to produce 11 hits, including two home runs. The Javelinas secured the win with consistent offense, scoring in each of the first six innings of play.

Texas A&M-Kingsville took an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a fielding error and an RBI single to go up 2-0. In the second inning, they extended their lead with a sacrifice fly, making it 3-0.

The Chaps' offense began to show signs of life in the third inning when Freddie Nolen singled to bring in Dylan Marx, cutting the deficit to 3-1. However, Texas A&M-Kingsville responded with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly, pushing its lead to 5-1 at the end of three innings.

In the fourth inning, the Chaparrals rallied with Roe Forrest hitting a solo home run and Jorge De Los Santos drawing a bases-loaded walk, narrowing the gap to 5-3, but a strikeout with the bases loaded ended the threat. Texas A&M-Kingsville answered again, this time with with a four-run inning, highlighted by a two-run triple and an RBI double, extending its lead to 9-3.

The fifth inning saw LCU close the gap again as Forrest hit another home run - this time for two runs - making the score 9-5. TAMUK then increased its lead with another four-run inning, aided by a combination of hits and an error, to lead 13-5 at the end of five innings.

The Chaps added a run in the sixth with an RBI single from De Los Santos, but the Javelinas countered with a solo home run, maintaining a 14-6 advantage through six innings.

Lubbock Christian remained scoreless in the seventh but held Texas A&M-Kingsville scoreless for the first time as well. They scored a single run in the eighth and held the Javelinas scoreless again, cutting the deficit to seven.

In the final inning, LCU continued to show resilience as Ryan Gargett doubled to bring in Owen Alsup, but it wasn't enough to overcome the gap as they fell 14-8.
