Blown Away: LCU Sweep Greyhounds as Clark Deals and LCU Claims Swing-Series

Clark Tosses Shutout In Opener As LCU Edges Nightcap To Complete Conference Sweep

LUBBOCK, Texas (March 22, 2026) – With Lubbock Christian University and Eastern New Mexico entering the day tied in the Lone Star Conference standings, LCU seized control of the race Sunday at Maner Park. Freshman Lexi Clark delivered a complete-game, three-hit shutout in an 11-0 run-rule victory in the opener and added three hits at the plate, while the Lady Chaps followed with a 4-3 win in the nightcap to complete the conference doubleheader sweep over the Greyhounds.

GAME 1
Clark delivered a dominant all-around performance, tossing a complete-game three-hit shutout and contributing at the plate, as Lubbock Christian rolled past ENMU 11-0 in five innings to open the doubleheader.

Clark (6-4) was in complete control in the circle for Lubbock Christian (15-14, 11-8 LSC), allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out five over five shutout innings. The right-hander faced traffic early but settled in, retiring 10 of the final 12 batters she faced. At the plate, Clark added an RBI single as part of an efficient offensive effort. LCU capitalized on seven walks and four hit-by-pitches, with Coryn Burris leading the way with a three-run home run and three RBI. Brianna Chambers-Lee added two RBI, while Riley Flores reached base three times and scored twice.

Eastern New Mexico (14-12, 10-9 LSC) was led offensively by Samantha Parisi, who recorded two of the Greyhounds' three hits. Miranda Guillen (6-5) took the loss after allowing five runs in the opening inning, as ENMU cycled through three pitchers in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After escaping a bases-loaded threat in the top of the first (LCU had two put-outs at home), Lubbock Christian responded immediately with a five-run outburst in the bottom half. Flores drew a leadoff walk and later scored on Burris' three-run home run to right-center, giving LCU an early 3-0 lead. The Lady Chaps continued to apply pressure with two more runs in the inning, using three walks and timely situational hitting to extend the advantage to 5-0.

LCU added to the lead in the second inning, taking advantage of a defensive miscue and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded. Chambers-Lee was hit to force in a run, and Clark followed with an RBI groundout to make it 7-0.

The Lady Chaps continued to build separation in the third. Cat Prisock reached on an infield single and eventually scored on a sacrifice, while Chambers-Lee delivered an RBI single to push the margin to 9-0.

In the fourth, LCU closed the scoring with two more runs. Ava Castillo led off with a single and later scored on a wild pitch, and Julie Muniz added an RBI groundout to extend the lead to 11-0.

Meanwhile, Clark continued to cruise in the circle. Eastern New Mexico's best opportunity came in the opening frame, placing runners on second and third with one out, but a double play erased the threat (Piper Garcia threw out a runner at home from left field to negate a sac fly). From there, Clark limited the Greyhounds to just two baserunners over the final four innings, including a clean fifth inning to secure the run-rule victory.

GAME NOTES
» LCU took advantage of 11 free-passes, as seven batters were walked and four were hit-by-pitch. Both the seven walks and four batters beaned were season highs. The last time LCU had at least 11 batters reach on pitching struggles was on Mar. 20, 2022, as UTPB walked eight Lady Chaps and pegged five for 13 free-passes.

» The complete game shutout for Clark marked her third complete game shutout (been a part of four shutouts this season) and all three of her complete games this season have been in shutout results. Clark held ENMU to 0-for-11 with runners on base.

» Despite the lopsided score, LCU struggled to make the score a lot worse, as they were 0-for-4 with the bases loaded and 0-for-5 scoring the runner from third base with less than two outs.

GAME 2
LCU held off a late rally to complete the doubleheader sweep, defeating Eastern New Mexico 4-3 in the nightcap.

Behind a steady start from senior Ashlinn Hamilton and timely situational hitting, LCU improved to 16-14 overall and 12-8 in conference play, while ENMU slipped to 14-13 (10-10 LSC). Hamilton (1-2) earned the win after limiting ENMU to one unearned run on four hits over six innings, and Kendall Ward secured her seventh save despite a tense seventh inning.

Offensively, LCU was paced by freshman Lexi Clark, who went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Brianna Chambers-Lee added a key RBI-double and Alexis Pacheco delivered the eventual game-winning sacrifice fly. Eastern New Mexico was led by Samantha Parisi, who finished 2-for-4 with a two-RBI triple in the seventh, and Christina Meneses added a hit and scored the Greyhounds' first run. Angelina Rubalcava (1-3) took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits over six innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless opening frame, Eastern New Mexico struck first in the second inning, capitalizing on an LCU error to take a 1-0 lead. Meneses singled and later scored on a throwing miscue, putting the Lady Chaps behind early.

LCU answered immediately in the bottom half. Clark sparked the rally with an infield single and stole second before Cat Prisock reached on a bunt single, with two ENMU throwing errors (on the same play) allowing Clark to score and Prisock to move into scoring position. Julie Muniz followed with an RBI groundout to give LCU a 2-1 advantage.

The Lady Chaps extended their lead in the third inning. Kadin Vire doubled to right and advanced to third before Chambers-Lee drove her in with a double down the line, making it 3-1.

From there, Hamilton settled in. The senior right-hander retired nine of 10 batters at one stretch and did not allow another run through the sixth, working efficiently with just 71 pitches over her six innings.

LCU added a critical insurance run in the sixth. Clark doubled to right-center and moved to third on a groundout before Pacheco lifted a sacrifice fly to center, extending the lead to 4-1.

Eastern New Mexico mounted its push in the seventh against Ward. A hit-by-pitch and walk set the stage before Parisi delivered a two-out triple to left, scoring two and cutting the deficit to 4-3. With the tying run at third, Ward regrouped and induced a swinging strikeout to end the game.

Despite the late scare, LCU's combination of opportunistic offense and steady pitching proved enough, as the Lady Chaps secured the sweep in a game played under drastically different conditions, with cooling temperatures and a stiff wind blowing in from the outfield limiting extra-base opportunities.

GAME NOTES
» LCU was 3-for-6 in the game in lead-off at-bats, with Clark going 2-for-2 in the game in leadoff at-bats. LCU was 7-for-10 on the day in leadoff at-bats, with Clark and Kadin Vire each 2-for-2.

» Brianna Chambers-Lee went 2-for-3 on the afternoon with runners in scoring position. She was 1-for-1 with two RBI in the opener and followed going 1-for-3 in the nightcap with an RBI. Chambers-Lee and Coryn Burris each co-led LCU with three RBI on the day.

» Lexi Clark (2-for-3) and Riley Flores (2-for-3) each had multi-hit performances for LCU. Flores' multi-hit performance was her fifth of the season and 30th of her LCU career, while Clark notched her sixth of the season, which is tied for second on the squad. Clark finished the day 3-for-5 (.600).

» With her seventh save of the season, Kendall Ward now has 12 career saves, as LCU's all-time leader in the category.

» The doubleheader sweep marked LCU's seventh doubleheader sweep of the season (third at home) matching last season's overall total.

» With a hit in each game, Kadin Vire actively leads LCU with hits in nine consecutive games. She joins Riley Flores, as the pair co-lead the team in consecutive games reaching base safely (12 games).

» The Lady Chaps are 6-4 at home this season with the pair of wins.

HISTORY LESSON
