LUBBOCK, Texas (April 26, 2026) — Playing with the wind blowing hard out to right field, Lubbock Christian University secured a 14–10 victory over UT Permian Basin at Hays Field for a Senior Day win on Sunday.
The Chaparrals amassed 17 hits, including a season-high six home runs, driving in 14 runs. After a scoreless opening, the team surged ahead with a five-run sixth inning. UTPB managed 10 runs on 14 hits, including a four-run rally in the ninth, but fell short of overcoming the deficit.
LCU finished the regular season with a 31-19 record, one game better than they finished the 2025 regular season. The will enter the Lone Star Conference Tournament next week as the No. 5 seed, heading to Austin, Texas, to take on the No. 4 seed St. Edward's.
For a game that ended with both teams in the double-digits, it was pitcher's duel through the first four innings.
Kyle England and Timmy LaChappa traded zeroes to start the game, and the Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the second and held it until the bottom of the third.
In the third inning, the Chaparrals'
Tanner Pachorek singled up the middle and scored on a two-run when
Johnny Gomez III, starting at first base on senior day, crushed a home run to left center. It was his seventh of the season but first since March 14.
Kyle Lewis then doubled and scored on an RBI single by
Jorge De Los Santos to make the lead 3-1.
Lubbock Christian added four runs in the fifth inning.
Ryan Gargett hit a solo homer to center field, followed by
Aaron Morales' single and Pachorek's two-run homer to right center. Gomez added another solo shot, extending the lead to 7-3 through five innings.
In the sixth inning, Lewis tripled and scored on
Hudson Grace's two-run homer, increasing the lead to 9-4.
Roe Forrest later hit a two-run double, pushing the score to 12-4 after six innings.
Grace homered again in the seventh inning, and
Owen Alsup doubled to bring home another run, extending the advantage to 14-6 through seven innings.
UTPB scored four runs in the ninth inning, but the Chaparrals secured a 14–10 victory.
Kyle England led the Chaps' pitching staff, delivering 4 2/3 innings while allowing three earned runs on seven hits and striking out four batters without issuing a walk.
Griffin Binkley provided a solid performance, securing the win with 2/3 inning pitched, allowing no hits and striking out one.
GAME NOTES:
- The Chaps' six home runs are a new season-high. The last time they hit six homers was April 18, 2025, against Cameron. They finish the season with 59 home runs to lead the LSC.
- The team scored 14 runs despite hitting just .214 (3-for-14) with runners in scoring position. They hit .357 with runners in scoring position for the series.
- All nine Chaparrals starters finished with a hit for the third time this season. They most recently did it on April 11 against Eastern New Mexico.
- After not homering in his first 39 games played, Pachorek has homered four times in the last six games. In that time, he is batting .450 with a 1.050 slugging percentage.
- Alsup led the Chap offense in the series, batting .571 with eight RBI.

Game times have not been set for the series against SEU in the first round of the LSC Tournament, but the series will start on Friday. It is a best-of-three affair, with the winner advancing to the No. 1 seed (UT Tyler) for a double-elimination tournament May 7-9.
