RICHARDSON, Texas (April 8, 2026) — Lubbock Christian University's doubles team of
Andrea De Bernardo and
AnaMaria Zoric has been named Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced, following a perfect performance at the top flight against nationally ranked competition.
De Bernardo, a junior marketing major from Caracas, Venezuela, and Zoric, a sophomore biochemistry major from Dubrovnik, Croatia, posted a 2-0 record at the No. 1 doubles position to lead the Lady Chaparrals to doubles points in both Lone Star Conference road matches.
The duo opened the week with a 6-3 victory over Cameron's No. 34-ranked tandem of Jenna Goessel and Nil Kalkaven, helping set the tone in LCU's 5-2 win in Lawton.
They followed with an even more impressive result in Wichita Falls, upsetting No. 9-ranked Emilia Gyorgy and Selin Sepken of Midwestern State with a 7-5 decision. Both victories came against top-35 nationally ranked opponents and proved pivotal in securing the doubles point in each dual.
With the performance, De Bernardo and Zoric improved to a team-best 13-2 overall record, including a 12-1 mark in dual matches at the No. 1 position. The pairing is now 4-0 this season against nationally ranked opponents, continuing to establish itself among the premier doubles teams in NCAA Division II.
The honor marks the second Lone Star Conference Doubles Team of the Week award this season for the duo and the second of their careers. The 2026 season is the inaugural year for the conference's weekly doubles recognition, with De Bernardo and Zoric previously becoming Lubbock Christian's first recipients of the award earlier this spring.
In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association national rankings released Wednesday, De Bernardo and Zoric moved up to No. 3 in the nation in doubles, while Zoric is also ranked No. 75 nationally in singles.
