• Lubbock Christian University wraps up non-conference play on Saturday with a matchup against Sul Ross State at 1:30 p.m. at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex
• LCU is looking to get back to .500 before league play starts next week, currently boasting a record of 2-3-1 after going 1-0-1 last weekend against Newman and Fort Hays
• Chaparral junior Milo Paci was named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for his performance against the Jets and the Tigers
• Sophomore midfielder Alex Lachevre scored in both games the Chaparrals played last week, and is now tied for sixth in the LSC in total points with six
• Lubbock Christian has never won against Sul Ross State, going 0-1-1 last season and suffering a loss during the 2024 season in the three overall matchups

 
AWARD CENTRAL
Lubbock Christian University junior goalkeeper Milo Paci was named the Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Paci had 12 saves over two matches to help the Chaps have an unbeaten week, including a draw with No. 25 Fort Hays State. He matched his season high with eight saves against the Tigers and earned the win against Newman with four saves. He also had eight saves in LCU's 2-1 loss at No. 12 UCCS.
 
HE'S A KEEPER
Paci is no stranger to Lone Star Conference competition, having started his collegiate career at Eastern New Mexico. In his Division II career, he has played 19 total games with a 1.38 goals against average in 1,698 minutes of action. He has a career save percentage of .759 with 82 saves  and five shutouts. The Troyes, France, native posted a career-high 10 saves while playing in a game for the Greyhounds, stopping 10 shots against St. Edward's.
 
OFFENSIVE OUTPUT
The Chaps scored a season-high three goals in last week's win against Newman. During the 2025 season, they only scored three or more goals two times. LCU averaging 1.33 goals per game so far this year. They have attempted 12.7 shots per game and put 44.7 percent of their shots on goal. Midfielders Alex Lachevre and Augusto Militao co-lead the team with six points apiece, having both scored two goals and recorded two assists. Another four players have found the back of the net once this season, including Oli Robinson, whose 2.67 shots on goal per game are tied for the fourth-most among LSC players.
 
IN THEIR DEFENSE
On the flip side, the Chaparrals have limited opponents to 1.33 goals per game, allowing just eight total goals through six games, including one shutout. LCU opponents have totaled 67 shots, or an average of 11.2 per game. They have put 32 of those on goal, or 47.8 percent. Carlso Kramer Silva has played the most minutes of any defender with 463, and newcomer Max Moorahrend is not far behind with 457 minutes of action.
 
FIRST THINGS FIRST
Lubbock Christian has been at their best this season when they are the first team to find the back of the net. They have scored first four times this season and only lost one of those games – at No. 12 UCCS. They are 2-0-1 in the other three contests, including 2-0 in games where they lead at halftime. The earliest goal they have scored this season came in last week's contest against Newman, when Lachevre scored in just the sixth minute against the Jets. LCU went on to win that game 3-1.  
 
THE FRIENDLY CONFINES
The Chaps are 2-1-1 at home so far this year and went 4-4-1 last season, including wins against Texas A&M International, Oklahoma Christian, Dallas Baptist and West Texas A&M. This weekend's match is the fifth of 10 home matches for LCU this season. They have not posted more wins than losses in Lubbock since the 2022 campaign, when they were 4-2-3. The LCU Soccer & Track Complex was completed in August of 2020 and features an AstroTurf playing surface, a Musco lighting system to allow for night games and stadium seating for 500 fans. LCU's men have an all-time record of 63-42-22 in home games. The best season at home was just their second in existence, as they went 8-1-1 in 2011.
 
SCOUTING THE LOBOS

• Sul Ross state has not found the back of the net yet this season in five games played
• The Lobos have one comment opponent with the Chaps – UCCS – and Sul Ross suffered an 8-0 loss to the Mountain Lions
• SRSU has attempted just 17 shots all year, which is the fewest in the Lone Star Conference, behind Texas A&M International, who has 43
• Freshman Fernando Hernandez has handled the majority of the goalkeeping responsibilities for the Lobos and leads the LSC with 38 saves
• Head coach Gerry Cleary is in his first season leading the Lobos aver previous stints at Fort Hays State and Martin Methodist, where he was a three-time NAIA National Coach of the Year
